Re: XCOM 2 thread of the game
left off at the Advent Tower Network mission tonight. 33 hours in. I feel like I *may* be approaching the end-game soon? One thing I'll say about this game... I've never once felt like I was "doing good." The entire game I've felt as if I were the underdog, tooth-and-nailing my way through - just barely pulling off victories...

If you start that mission you'll be locked into the end game. So make sure you're prepared.

That's not proof; you get the credits if you let the Avatar project run out.

Yeah, I discovered that when I had a playthrough go utterly to shit; I decided to just let the countdown finish to see what happened.
Interestingly, unskippable missions do give you the chance to retry if you fail (even on ironman), like the Avatar defense and the final mission sequence. And by chance, I mean you either retry or you exit to the menu; you don't get to see the defeat cinematic.

That's weird, you don't get to lose.
Re: XCOM 2 thread of the game
I think the idea is that on almost every other mission if you fail you can move on; you have the possibility to recover. On those missions you are fully locked in so losing is a game over, so I guess they decided to let you retry there instead of having to toss an entire campaign in the toilet because you got a bad roll or something.
