Yikes, I'm not interested in the new movie at all, but definitely curious to see how the TV series shakes out.

Yeah Into Darkness was a let down and from what's in the trailer for Beyond, I don't see that being any better. Hopefully the new series is successful enough to merit a long run and earn a movie or two of its own.

Gotta milk the franchise for all it's worth. As long as box office receipts garner sufficient profit, Paramount will continue to crank out Trek films.

A real kick in the teeth with the not in the US/Canada market bit with the delayed streaming on netflix of the new series. Screw them and their CBS only offerings. I was kind of on the fence of just ignoring it, now I'm going to go out of my way to bootleg it because they're trolling the fans now.

I hope that new movie does well and I could see it going as long as the actors are willing to do the movies too. Sort of like the old cast just got too old to keep up with it after 6 movies as the Undicovered Country was a fine movie especially after how 5 let people down kind of.

I don't believe it's trolling fans. Netflix has a global network already at their disposal, while cbs all access is struggling to get a domestic market. This will be the first original program to air on their service and they know that there is a market for it. So why not use that to try to get a domestic market established, and take full advantage of netflix for global viewers?

Also this leads me to believe that after some timed exclusivity on cbs all access, the series will go to netflix for US and Canadian viewers. As a fan of Star Trek who wants the series to stay alive, I urge you not to pirate or encourage pirates of this new show. It's gonna take money for cbs to keep the series alive.

If you're right and if they do say once season 2 arrives put up season 1 for those to watch on Netflix I'll happily retract my interest in bootlegging the series out of spite. I still consider it contractual trolling, same as when sports teams block out local broadcasting if they can't sell a large percentage of seats at a venue as it's just messed up. I get the point, but I think it will backfire as it's making a lot of people angry so far.

From reviews it sounds like Beyond is a lot less dark and dreary but I can't be assed to care about the JJ-Verse.

I've seen Beyond and I very much enjoyed it. Nice old-fashioned Trek story with the references and calls backs to previous entries organically grown into the story, not crowbarred in like Into Darkness.

The shows title has been announced and a first look at the new starship we will be spending time with....this is rough I won't lie. They need to spend more time making these trailers look good before putting them out.

I'm not too bothered. I was expecting something pretty low budget although it seriously does look like late 90's CGI.

Not sure why they went with a design inspired by the Ralph McQuarrie TMP concepts. It's different at least, just kind of awkward looking.
