Lego City Undercover is one of the GREAT but disappointingly underrated Wii U exclusives. It's honestly a reason to own the system in and of itself in my opinion (but I love Lego, so I'm a bit biased).

Half way through the month and a little bit in the red. Monday will change that with the mass shipment I'm getting from Amazon, but I'm going to be a dirty flipper with a few of those depending on their conditions so hopefully that will keep me from plunging to much deeper into the red :P.

That being said I'm doing a lot better then I expected. My goal is to keep things balanced to where I'm ending each month with an expense of no more then $100 or so.

Wasn't easy locating a copy of Bayonetta 2 that wasn't price-gouged. LCU is my first Lego game. It came highly recommended by a friend so I thought I would jump into the Lego series with this one.

I'm waaay more than a little in the red, but I blame that on the government; since I work for the state, and they pay us on the last workday of the month (which, for teachers, was December 18 and January 29), I'll have gone six weeks without a paycheck by the time I get paid next. That shit's hard to budget, especially with my propensity for game buying. Thank God for credit cards and an upcoming tax refund (if the freaking state will ever send me my damn W2....).

I've been living in Japan for 2 years, but only this past weekend I started getting into hunting down old games. Holy jeez! The selection is so amazing... walls of Famicom/SFC games... tons of PS1 CiB... and SO cheap! I picked up a selection of FF 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Tactics... Brave Fencer Musashi... and some older DQ games for FC/SFC. Nope, I don't even have the hardware to play them, and I can't even read that much kanji. But still! Such a great time looking through those old games... this isn't in Tokyo either, but a rather medium-size city in Fukushima...

(Here's a tip for any Japan travelers: I've heard those game shops in Akihabara are about 40% more expensive than what you'd find in a second hand shop, or chains like Hard-Off/Book-off.)

As a guy who's into emulation (and digital purchases on my modern consoles), this could be the start of an expensive new habit...

And so I decided to order a Japanese Saturn, plus 3 of Capcom's Marvel fighters. Confession: I've never actually played a Saturn game before. Super excited to receive it next week... and then go back to those stores to see their Saturn stock.
I review (mostly old) games at: The Annals of Retrodom.

yeah, buddy. Saturn is an amazing console to get into. Be sure to hit up the "How's Your Saturn Gaming Going" thread once that sucker arrives.

When you're out there searching their stacks, keep an eye out for Sengoku Blade for me, huh? Ebay prices are nuts on that one lately.

Well I got my Amazon Warehouse box in today and I'm a little mixed on how I feel about it overall things were pretty nice and they actually packaged it very well. However some of the things weren't as described so a few of them are heading back.

Image

First up is the Model 1 genesis while the box isn't in the best of shape everything is there. Sadly this is the worst Model 1 revision so I'm probably going to just going to list it on eBay and hope I break even.

Next is LoZ: Ocarina of Time for the N64. This was supposed to be CIB which technically it is but some genius decided to cut up the original box and use it as a an insert for a UGC :P. However it's the collector's edition so that kind of makes up for it.

Image

Also grabbed what was supposed to be a CIB copy of Battle Toads. It actually wasn't in to bad a shape but the manual was missing even though it was "included" according to the description so it's going back. Have it on the Rare Replay collection on XB1 anyways.

Image

Got lucky on a copy of Metroid Pinball which came in compelete with the Rumble Pak.

Image

Finally everything else aside from a loose copy of Hammerin Hero (PSP) that got left out on accident :P. Everything is in great shape aside from the stickers which I'll have to work on. However sadly Sea Man was missing the microphone and outer box. The box wasn't a biggy but without the mic it's unplayable and it would basically double my costs to get a loose one so it's going back as well.

Image

Also picked up another copy of Zelda Ocarina of Time which came in today in a bubble mailer :x . It actually managed to survive the trip in pretty good condition with the box in tact though.

Image

Altogether that put me thoroughly in the red.

After some hemming and hawing, I finally plunked down the cash on Parasite Eve, Suikoden, Xenogears, and Chrono Cross on PSN so I could play them at some indeterminate point in the future on my Vita. They only set me back $11, so that's not so bad at all.
