2016 gaming goals and resolutions

PS3 was my go-to for all fighting games that gen as we played there for Racket groups plus I've got the cool hori pad

I need only 25 games to finish up my PS3 collection...and 12(!) of them are fighting games.

Slight edit of my goals plus a small update:

Beat at least 12 different RPGs
Already beat 2 RPGs so I'm slightly ahead of the average, but we'll see how long that lasts

Buy 10 Steam games or less
I changed this from "Buying no Steam games" since I realized there may be a few games I really want to play right away (like the Higurashi chapters for example). Keeping it a very low number though so I have to be more mindful on what things I buy.

Focus buying games for ??? console?
I'm still thinking about this since it might be nice to focus on last gen games while a lot of them are still cheap (plus I only have about 17 NTSC 360 games on my wishlist), but maybe it would be more fun to focus on something else or not at all. I'm really bad at these sorts of decisions

Eh may be too early for this but why not since I'm already looking forward to next year and have a few goals i know I need to get done myself:

1.) Finish casing up my games*
2.) finish way more games than I have. - trying to make progress here, working on KH1(which I'd started at church since it was for some odd reason there but disappeared shortly after getting hooked...this time it's going better, but I have to get better at remembering to take my gba with me upstairs...)
3.) Get a receiver and speakers*
4.) Once I ever get shelves setup in my room and everything set up a charging dock of some sort with cords I can pull out or something for all my portables and controllers(especially the ps3 controller because that's unbearable with that cord and I think my cord i bought at gamestop if I've found the right one doesn't really work anymore...and i need something with a longer cord or just a new controller that doesn't require some weird handoff to work)

*these will have to wait funds just got super tight since wrecking my honda and trying to get this budget thing really figured out again so I can get the proper amount of savings saved up......*sigh*

1st quarter update! Overall not too bad.

I'm keeping it short and manageable this year.

1. Get a Wii U.
2. Get Xenoblade Chronicles X, King's Quest, Killer Instinct Season 3, Tekken 7, FFXV.
3. Get the PS3 to Xbox One & PS3 to PS4 Brooks converters for my arcade stick.
4. Get the last few Sega Saturn fighters that I want.
5. Get my spare PVM fixed. The image is bowing at the top and I can't correct it with the service menu. Going to have to get both PVMs serviced
6. Get into the TG16/PC-Engine scene.
7. As always, put a dent in the backlog. Meh

So I think...

- System Shock 1
- Quake 1

Hmm... looks like I haven't even started on this.

My gaming goals are:

1. Finish the Fatal Frame series
2. Beat System Shock 1 and 2
3. Beat all three SNES Fire Emblems as well as all three versions of Fates
4. Stop spending money I don't have on video games via impulse buys (my Achilles' heel)

A quarter of the way through the year, and here's my status update.

Goal 1 - 60% done
Goal 2 - Haven't even bought System Shock 1 yet, so that's still at 0%
Goal 3 - Fates took priority, so that's still at 0%
Goal 4 - Unmitigated disaster abandon ship DEFCON 1

1. Finish arcade tables
2. Build digital pinball machine
3. Beat all the Mario RPG titles (pre 3ds).

Mario and Luigi inside Bowser has been completed - six* more to go
*I have beaten Mario RPG a dozen times, but it has been atleast seven years since the last full run

Arcade tables and Pinball machine are pending lumber. Lumber is on hold due to shed falling apart.

1. Focus my buying by using a list of my most wanted games for each platform, instead of just buying things as and when I think about it.
Mostly done this!

2. For every series I own 2 or more unbeaten games for, beat at least 1 game in that series. As of the start of January, this includes:

To go: SNES, N64, Wii, Wii U, GBC, DS SMS, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear, PS1, PS2, PSP, 3DO, NGPC, PC, Pokémon Mini

4. Finish the year with less unbeaten games than I started the year with. This isn't a big objective necessarily, but I plan on buying quite a lot this year, so it'll require me to finish quite a lot of stuff.

5. Try and keep my game spending to less than £100 on average per month.
