I did think of Doom as well, though since we've done Wolf3D and Duke Nukem 3D, I was hoping we could do a bit more modern FPS - which is why I had suggested Call Of Duty. Though as expected, not much traction there haha.

I wouldn't be against Pitfall II being included. Though in general, we've picked 1 game and encouraged that folks check out sequels and related media as part of the month. So making the TR pick Pitfall only would still mean that there'd be room for Pitall II conversation anyway.

If we're gonna do an FPS, I think it should be Perfect Dark personally. Noise may have suggested Goldeneye, but not only does Perfect Dark build on it, it's also more widely available as it's on N64, 360 and XBox One.

I probably won't join in FPS month either way, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I'd say that Call Of Duty is more influential and it's on Windows, OSX, NGage, XBLA and PSN. And I will play that month, so... c'mon guys!

Yeah, that's cool. I also want to play the Genesis/SNES Pitfall (which is of course way different). Just make it Pitfall Month, with Pitfall being the official TR game.

Call of Duty (classic) should not be overlooked!
There is the original and then the classic which is an updated HD version for Xbox 360 & PS3.

Medal of Honor on the PS1 was amazing and up till the PS2 days they were all AMAZING!

I second Doom as well, I have the 3DO & BFG versions but played the PS1 adaptations (never finished any) and was really impressed, dark vibes and very atmospheric. I didn't fully adopt FPS till Xbox 360 thanks to using analog sticks, but loved back tracking and put full effort into using shoulder buttons is fun!

Unreal championship was another omg I f*n love this FPS and of course the king of all Timesplitters Future Perfect was a complete package by all means.

Edit: Pitfall on PS1 I remember being pretty good, no?
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I'll admit, it's looking really good so far, and it's moving at a much faster and organized pace than I expected. The 6 games on this list are all decent too.

I notice a puzzle game hasn't been suggested yet. I fought hard to try and get Solomon's Key there last year, but it was narrowly edged out by 2 votes to Puzzle Fighter II, so the interest was definitely there. I'll just remind everyone that it's widely available (and cheap!) on the NES, Game Boy (as Solomon's Club), on Tecmo Classic Arcade on the original Xbox, as well as the Virtual Console.

Pitfall 3d is a very different game, that is sadly forgotten by most. Pitfall Harry was voiced by Bruce Campbell to boot.

I would like to officially support Solomon's Key as a great idea.

Perfect Dark is great and all but it's pretty overstuffed compared to Goldeneye. Asides from graphics and story I can't think of anything it actually does better than Goldeneye and I do include multiplayer in that.

I think R-Type, Oddworld and Pitfall have to be on there. Is it another bloodbath year? God I hope so.

Solomon's Key! Right, right. So here's a bit more fleshed out based on recent conversation for y'all to let us know what's good and what's bad. Thanks for being constructive everyone!

1. Star Control II (space sim thing?)
2. Pitfall (platformer)
3. R-Type (shmup)
4. Metal Slug (run-n-gun)
5. Pokemon red/blue/yellow (RPG)
6. Oddworld (weird looking adventure thing?)
7. (horror) Alone In The Dark? Shadowgate? (where's Ack?)
8. Solomon's Key (puzzle)
9. (FPS) Call Of Duty? Doom? Perfect Dark? Golden Eye?
10.
11.
12.
