Yeah, Sega CD version, and was just using the built-in memory. Will probably just pick up the cart at some point, as replacing the battery looks to be a bit of a pain.

Ah, I should have known better.dunpeal2064 wrote:Yeah, Sega CD version, and was just using the built-in memory. Will probably just pick up the cart at some point, as replacing the battery looks to be a bit of a pain.
Yeah, and I think the RAM-cart uses a battery as well, but lasts much longer of course (like any cartridge that uses SRAM).
I've long since stopped trusting my system memory though.

Sorry to hear that dunpeal2064. Losing saves is incredibly frustrating.
I think I'm the furthest into the game I haven't hit the 7 hour mark yet. Just entered the fishing village of Lann.

Dunpeal a Mega Everdrive flashcart also doubles as a Memory cart.

Huh, I did not know that!ninjainspandex wrote:Dunpeal a Mega Everdrive flashcart also doubles as a Memory cart.
Looks like the normal memory cart runs around $35. how much is the Mega Everdrive right now? Might be worth just investing in that.
Also, I think I read that some of the carts will let CD games save directly to the cart, whereas some require saving to the internal memory and moving the saves to the cart. Do you know how the Everdrive operates? Mostly concerned because I'm not sure if I can move saves back and forth, with my battery being dead.
And thanks Bone, yeah, losing saves is a real bummer, especially with an RPG where you hit a stride and just wanna plug through the game. I was kinda feelin that with Lunar. I've watched the intro like 5 times since realizing my battery was dead, kinda pathetic, but I really love the intro song/animations.

The Mega Everdrive isn't cheap but it is the best Flashcart available, it runs around $143 but you can get it around $120 in a group buy http://shop.retrogate.com/
Keep in mind if you get an original Sega branded memory card they use SRAM so you would still have to solder in a new battery.
you could buy a newly produced backup ram cart from stoneage gamer for $39 http://www.stoneagegamer.com/ultra-cd-b ... -cart.html

Hey, anyone know if there is a pdf available for the Lunar 2 guide (I doubt it as I did a pretty thorough search)? I just ordered the game for Saturn, purely for novelty, as I have it for PS1, but with intent to play.
I think I might just bite the bullet and order a beat up (but still overpriced) guide and scan it myself.
The Silver Star Story Complete guide is easy enough to find, but I DO have a rough copy of that one anyways.
WD manuals and guides are the best!

I've never seen one unfortunately. Never thought to search the internet for pdf guides though - might be fun...
Lunar 2 on Saturn is pretty sweet looking. A double CD case with a map included, from what I recall.

I have both the PSP and GBA version of this, but no Sega CD or PS1 yet just because they are far more expensive than the portables. I do intend on picking up the PS1 version and sequel asap though and maybe the Sega CD originals one day.
I decided to play through the GBA version, mainly because it has zero load times and I am a big fan of RPG's on the GBA. It seems like it was widely dismissed as the worst version. I admit, it is very easy, but so far it has been fun and the sprites and background look great on my SP-101 or DS Lite.
I am about 8 hours in at Level 21 in Reza. Things are just starting to heat up in the main story. I think I might jump right into one of the other versions (PSP or PS1) right after this just to compare the two and then possible Eternal Blue over Christmas.

GBA version is solid. It's so streamlined.
