Majora's Mask 3D coming soon
Re: Majora's Mask 3D coming soon
I was able to sneak in an order yesterday. Glad I got it in early, I was afraid this would happen.

And now the wait to see how fast until those start ending up on ebay and for how much. If limited stuff like the Luigi trophy or the Ganon statue are any indication I imagine a lot were greasy scalpers.

Oh, there's an Ultimate Limited Edition now? That definitely wasn't there yesterday.bmoc wrote:Looks like Gamestop is taking orders still: http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/ga ... dle/119701

Well shit I went to my gamestop to preorder because I hate getting limited editions mailed because they always get damaged in shipping. and the guy told me it was a webstore only thing so I got home and now they are sold out at the web store. Oh well I was breaking my rule of not buying limited editions anyway.bmoc wrote:Looks like Gamestop is taking orders still: http://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-3ds/ga ... dle/119701

I think we should start a new trend #StopVideoGameScalping. Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. Nintendo stuff, in particular, is being targeted thanks to Amiibo and likely because of the price of the WindWaker HD markup.
Last chance to get one is likely Fry's, since they have yet to list it.

Money makes the whole world go round.
There isn't anything anyone can do unfortunately. Even if a movement gets traction there will always be someone who will buy it at inflated prices and someone who will sell it at said prices.

Geez chrono, I was half kidding and half serious when I made that ebay crack.
Those people need a good cockpunching into a darwin award. Sterility maybe the only cure to breed out such trash from the gene pool.
Caster in general you're right, you don't have much control. I did laugh my ass off so incredibly hard when Nintendo fucked over scalpers like that a few years ago. Remember the Mario All Stars Wii 'limited edition' box they did? They ran it for just one run and that was it. Flippers went out in mass and grabbed them up and started asking 2-3x or more the sticker price, some people felt forced to and bought it. Others (rightly) bitched a LOT about it including the press, NOA went and then ran more of them, a lot more than the original run and forced the price back to MSRP and burned a lot of those scalpers. I enjoyed watching the complaining online how it was unjust to run more of a limited game, how it hurt the value, that the price was falling. I and others to posts like that on boards just laughed at them, said tough shit, don't buy games if you don't intend to play them. If a lot more game companies would just do more runs to meet increased demand, this crap would dry up a lot.

Re: Majora's Mask 3D coming soon
I understand it's something to be expected in general, but for video games we've got such a tight cycle of information between retailers, media, and customers it's so easy for people to take advantage of it.
And considering how tight that relationship is, it would seem like there's at least a little we could do at least as the audience for these products and a community.
Everyone just kind of accepts that there's scalpers and you have to deal with it. If people didn't think that way, it probably wouldn't be as bad as its getting.
I think if people freely talk about it and their disgust with the practice it wouldn't be such a popular thing to do.
To clarify, I don't even mean the people who buy like one more copy to flip and that's it. The largest issue is the people who buy 5-10+ an try to flip them one at a time over a slow period. With items no longer produced, that's just something we have to adhere to, because that's market value. But this is something that isn't even for sale yet.
