Wouldn't it have been nice to skip all that with a degree?

A degree doesn't automatically guarantee a job...

You get more food stamps
You get more on your income tax to spend on Ipads, PS3, etc.

Trust me that's what many, many people do with it. Don't put it beyond materialistic poor people to get knocked up on purpose, get those government benefits, and spend the money and welfare on themselves. It happens every day.

My brother has 3 kids (two are twins, so his wife only got pregnant twice...she's fixed now, thank goodness), and this year he got back $11,000 in taxes to spend as he wishes. My grandparents paid off his house, his cars are paid for, family makes sure the kids have everything they need...he literally got $11,000 to play with. And that's exactly what it went towards. For a guy making $20k a year, my brother drives a paid for 2009 Escalade, has two 50 inch smart HD tvs and a huge collection of video games. All thanks to those babies and Uncle Sam.
Just want to say this is post is about the worst thing I've read on this forum recently. Just pure, unfocused, unbridled bile.

You know that'a good living, what you're doing, but there aren't oil rigs everywhere. Everyone may not want to uproot and move away from every thing they know, to a place where they know nothing.

...I wouldn't leave this area where my family is for a better job, unless it was some serious wealth we're talking about. My grandparents are elderly, I don't want to be 1,000 miles away when they die.
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

Incorrect.. Last I checked JUST BECAUSE you have a child you CAN get $3000+ back per child.

It's not bile persay... you DO get back more for just having children.. Hell my "babymama" ( aka girl who I had a child with who I'm not with)

She got $3500 back last year just because she has my son.. EVEN THOUGH.. I pay her every month among other things and we split custody 50/50

Why exactly does she get $3500? She has

1. Less bills
2. She lives with her parents
3. She gets paid by me
4. She doesnt work full time

in 2013 I worked in Texas, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, California, Lousiana, Montana, West Virginia, and North Dakota...

Oil is in more places than one would think.

Let's put it this way.. the "low guy" in most place working on an oil rig is making $100,000 plus a year ( also remember this) You only work 6 months out of the year. I used to work 7 days on 7 days off.

It's not " crazy wealth" but it's a good living if you're a single guy

I've been lurking on this thread to learn more about the pros and cons of going and not going to college. So far I've learned that wearing a rubber prevents kids and that some people on this forum do not like welfare.

go to college. regardless of the degree, getting a bachelor's in any field will greatly increase your odds of a better salary and a more stable job in the vast majority of professions.
