Yeah, its the same thing as for Wii. I was not aware that it was free as well, at first when the lady asked me about the wheel, I thought she was trying to sell me on, which I declined, but once she said it was free I figured why not.

It fits the wiimote, yes, but it's different from the wheel that came out with MK Wii.
This one is Mario Kart 8 themed and looks like this:

I got this wheel free with my walmart preorder (i went with wally-world this time around just for the free wheel as that seemed to be the best preorder deal available besides the one of three key chain offer). The wheel is pretty nice. It has a more soft rubber that the original wii variant. Plus the logo, graphic and improved z-trigger is much nicer this time around. I opened it but haven't used it yet... but based on my past Mario Kart Wii motion control experiences I am sure I will favor a real controller over it. Its just a nice novelty item for a big fan of the series such as myself.

My wife and I finished it last night as well. We stayed up all night going through it and had a blast. Like I was saying before, they really focused on the races and it shows as there are so many nuances that created a masterful racing experience. There are so many risk/reward elements in the tracks and they really found ways to balance the game out.

What to stop the blue shell? Use the Super Horn, it blows up the blue shell. Scared of obstacles? Take the anti-grav paths. Sure it is a longer path, but for novices, it makes it so you don't get frustrated. Fall off the courses? No worries, you are just in a water portion of the track now. When you REALLY fall off the course, the lakitu moves fast to not punish you as much.

So far what are people's favorite courses? Mine may be Wario's Mountain. Why?

I love the fact that the track is just one long downhill moment, without having any recurring experiences. I am glad that did that with both it and the N64 Rainbow Road (cause seriously...that track is freaking long!). It was really refreshing to play.

Now I gotta get gold in every CC and get the 3 stars AND get stamps for completing a cup with each character AND get stamps for completing each time trial, something I would NEVER do if it weren't for those stupid stamps!

Game is excellent so far. I really like that you can do legit circuits with multiple players and still unlock stuff and have it be a legit cup w/12 racers. I know that was missing from Double Dash, can't recall if Wii had it or not.

I also like how quickly you can switch from motion control to d-pad control - a really nice fix.

Graphics and tracks are incredibly cool, enjoying all the alternate paths, particularly w/the glider option (pulling up to reach an otherwise unknown path, etc).

The new weapons are really neat - nothing that tips the scales as "unfair" but really neat stuff, love the flower chomp. Boomerang and the "8" item icon are cool too.

This is one of those games that makes you wonder why you have 1,000 games on your shelves. I'm sure that feeling will subdue, but right now i'd be content if this and maybe 10 other games were all I had.

I agree wholeheartedly. The tracks are genuinely the best Nintendo has put out so far and the feeling of drifting, boosting and hitting the shortcuts is so fulfilling. Not to mention the fun of playing with others.

Yeah the Double Dash and Mario Kart Wii did not have the option to unlock stuff and do a grand prix in multiplayer mode. I am happy they added it too because 90% of the time I am playing with a friend.

Loving this game so far, and I am impressed with the online play. I was in a match with people from 3 different continents and didn't even feel for a second a single drop of lag. I wish I could use the pad as a rear view mirror, but that is so minor and I wont consider it a complaint.

Also, I can't believe, with all the doom and gloom talk about the future of the WiiU, that I had to go to 5 different stores to find a copy. I have not had to do that in a long, long time. Should mean there should be people to play with for a long, long time to come.

If anyone wants to add me, my SN is the same as my name on these boards. I would love to play with some of you if you have the time.

I just ordered my copy from Toys R Us since they had the 40% off additional Wii U game deal going on. So for $95 with tax I got Mario Kart 8, Sonic Lost Worlds, and will be getting Pikmin 3 when I register my copy of MK8. Not a bad deal at all.

Can't wait to play it.
