I think he takes way to much heat because he plays in Dallas and has an idiot as an owner/gm that won't stfu or make decent football decisions, and cause the slur his name rhymes with lol. The guy has to sling it all over the place just to keep the team in the game, 3 interceptions in 8 losses last year but blame him. Plays hurt and up until this year, maybe, hasn't had a good line to have a running game or protection. Not that I expect it will change. Up 21? Let's surprise them with the pass.dsheinem wrote:Romo deserves plenty of blame for key losses, but he's still one of the best inn the league in terms of those raw STATS which you claimed were so important in how you evaluate someone...Luke wrote:Excuses. This, still...

And, FWIW, I may have a spot or two left in a straight Pick 'Em league if you are interested. It's $35 for the year and I'd prefer to only include people I am friendly with...so if you fit both of those criteria and want to get in let me know via PM

Re: NFL 2014 Thread
So when do I chime in as a Browns fan... sigh.
I love my team and will support them but sheesh... This is the only Cleveland team I can watch on TV without paying for cable. I may have to end up paying for Uverse again to watch the Cavs. Yeah, the first game hasn't started and I am already waiting for next year (Cleveland's motto).
On a serious note, I think the Browns will surprise people. Hoyer is competent and if Johnny learns the playbook they may pull a Smith/Kapernick switch mid season. I have a friend who works for the Browns (IT type dude) and says that Gordon's locker is still full and the preseason playbook is more simple than a HS team all of which he states is a ruse. Do I trust him? No. But if you look at Mike Shanahan's preseason playbook it was extra simple too... maybe. Yeah this is the stuff many Browns fans are hanging on to.
Anyway I'm looking for some hope for my team - and will still pick them over Pitspuke this weekend. Honor and morals have to trump logic.

I absolutely guarantee that Matt Stafford will not win a superbowl this year. Calvin Johnson can catch anything that's thrown within a 25M radius of him at any moment, but Matt Stafford will ground the ball or throw it out of bounds, thus negating Megatron's superhuman powers.
Back in '82, I could throw a pigskin a quarter mile. I therefore bet 4% of my videogame collection and 55% of the DVDs I no longer wish to own that I can throw a football over them mountains.

Thanks to Dave for the funsies.
If Romo wins a conference championship, I'll buy him a pizza and a six pack. I'll also write him a poem.
Think the Bears have a punchers chance at the NFC. I really do. That is with a major caveat; if the refs call the games like they did in the preseason.
When I sit down an actually think about it, the running game, or lack thereof, is apparent. I could be wrong, I often am, but the style of play in the NFL seems to be more arena like with each passing year. It's a bit counter intuitive, as the game is supposed to be faster, but with so many yellow flags on the field the game certainly doesn't seem faster (extra commercial time? I wouldn't put it past 'em).
Balanced play doesn't seem to exist, and that's fine with me. I'd just like to see a smashmouthed team that only passes when it is third and long. Don't want to see a qb scramble unless he's running an option, want to see more fullbacks going for a tough four yards, want to see less dirty plays and more clean tackles.
But hey, things change when the season starts. We really need more All Days. A corner route in the endzone is alright, but when a running back breaks through a hole shakes off two defenders and stiff arms a third...that's electrifying

Cowboys holding a press conference to announce the signing of a Practice Squad player: Michael Sam. So much for being treated like everyone else.
I assume they will hold these for every practice squad player, right?

They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

Of course, jj wants his team in the news. Just like he was the only person in the organization that wanted to draft Johnny clipboard. To stay relevant.jvalentine98 wrote:Cowboys holding a press conference to announce the signing of a Practice Squad player: Michael Sam. So much for being treated like everyone else.

He may get on the field with all the defense injuries they have.
