Put in a couple more hours tonight. Level 20, in Kouan, dealing with Lepant.
I wasn't originally going to bother finding every party member, but suddenly I think I want to. Even though I know I'll end up paralyzed by indecision over who to use...
Is getting them all a major chore?

I haven't gotten all of them yet (but I have gotten most... I think I have about 100), but I find that most of them aren't too bad to get.
Off the top of my head, I think there were 2 or 3 that were a pain to get? (like having to grind levels for certain characters or get a certain drop arg)
Just make sure to look around lots? There are a few characters that could pretty easily be missed...

Well after five hours of starting from scratch, I figured out why the game was locking up on me before. For the sake of posterity:
One interesting thing about playing the Saturn version with an AR card is that despite (to my knowledge) not having any codes selected, it's possible to switch out characters that are required to be in one's party at different points of the game. I had erroneously thought this was an addition to the Saturn version at first, and promptly switched Gremio out for Valeria when given the option. At the point that I had gotten to on the Dwarf Path, the party will fan out, and where Gremio is intended to be in this lineup, he was not; thus locking the game up every time. Starting over with the game on my JP Saturn, I found that these required characters are not swappable, and are still mandatory as they would be in the PS1 version.
So, I'm at the Dwarf Village now, with a lot more of the early-game goodies compared to my initial play (consequently a lot more potch, as well) and I intend to stick with playing this on the JP Saturn. All of the sound glitches are still apparent, but at least this last game-breaking glitch was partly my fault.

Vita works great and Suikoden is only $5 right now. You do need a PS3 to transfer though.
Haven't played that far got through the first battle and went back home.

Yeah but I don't have a ps3, and wasn't planning on getting one unless SE was stupid enough not to put KH1.5 and KH2.5 final mix's on 4...which i'm still holding onto the hope that it happens...

Well, today I beat Suikoden

I had a lot of fun playing it, that's for sure (even if the story was kinda meh). Recruiting all the different characters was really fun, and the combat was nice and quick (making the minimal amount of grinding I had to do much less painful).
And I only died once... Which was my fault because I forgot to buy health stuff derp ><; Although I was worried that I was going to die at the final boss... It was super tense gah ;-;
But in any case, I definitely will be playing Suikoden 2 sometime :> If it really is better than this one (like how pretty much everyone says), then I'll definitely have a blast~

Ok, I finally got to the part I remembered about this game before. The large battle scenarios where you and another army face-off. Very unique system and the way they group people that you've collected for your army, makes you want to collect 'em all so to speak.
Had an aggravating moment over the weekend, I was in the Dwarven vault and had gotten the final treasure and put my Vita to sleep like I normally do and plugged it into the charger. Came back later to find it saying "You removed the memory card and now we need to restart."

Rebooted to have it say Rebuilding Databse and I was like "oh, crap" and when it came up, a ton of programs were missing including Suikoden. NOOO! So I shut down the system and removed the memory card and re-seated it and restarted .... and it came back up! Phew! I hope my memory card isn't on the way out or something.

Yeah it was weird. I forgot to mention that the sucky part about that was I hadn't saved since before going to the Dwarven village for the first time, so there went about an hour of progress.
