Back when, I had a SNES. I didn't get a Genesis until the Genesis 3 came out. So, I only ever played Aladdin for the SNES. When I finally got a Genesis, some one suggested that I picked up Aladdin for it, so I did. I had no idea that it was a completely different game. I played the first level or two and then said, "The hell with this" and didn't give it the time of day. I shelved it and forgot about it. But a few days ago I was thinking about it, how I never played it. I'm gonna have to bump it up toward the top of my mental list of games to be played.

Do it Z! It was clearly meant to be!

Insightful, knowledgeable, all around super. Why and how you aren't getting more hits baffles me as you are by far my favorite video game reviewer.

Near perfect (be sure to button all of your shirt buttons).

Thanks man, i think you're easily one of my biggest supporters, always appreciate your enthusiasm for my videos! and did i miss a button?? you'd think after hours of staring at the footage editing i'd have seen that, but i guess not much i could have done about it then even...

I think the SNES one is a better game overall, but Aladdin on the Genesis just got more attention because of the graphics. It's a good game too though. I own both and have beaten both, so it really doesn't matter to me how people feel about them. Fans of the movie should just play both IMO

It's like the inverse of The Adventures of Batman and Robin. The SNES version looks better than the Genesis version and is also the better game.

I think your mileage may vary on Adventures of Batman and Robin. The SNES game looks more like the cartoon but the graphics on the Genesis are really impressive from a technical standpoint.

That's a good point. The game pulls off some neat visual tricks for the Genesis hardware too.

Funny, I can't recall ever playing the Genesis game. But I grew up with the SNES one and liked it a lot actually...

Anyways, cool vids and concept. Definitely liked the one about Earthworm Jim. You said otherwise in the video, but it definitely would have been cool if you had the Sega CD / Special Edition in there too.

Right pocket button seems to be undone. I'm a fashion snob, or a general snob *salutes General Snob* so take it for what it is worth...or don't give a crap, as long as you keep pumping out reviews.

I'd sound like a skipped record if I told you how much I enjoy your reviews. Out of thousands you are one of the only reviewers who actually takes the time to thoroughly review games. In a time where anyone can download previous reviews, you take the time to add intellect and your own opinion on the games you review, and actually play them.

PM me if you'd like me to spread the word of your reviews. They deserve hits in the thousands,

honestly that was my other thought as well - it's not what the genesis offered so it's shit. not cool.

Sunset Riders is another example where I think a lot of people unfairly dump on the less-favored version. Castlevania Bloodlines used to be this to Castlevania IV and to some extent it still is but I think more people are coming around to Bloodlines in recent years and enjoying it on its own merits as a Castlevania game and not as competition against IV.

I've always considered Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps more edgy, raw, and creative than Super Castlevania and Contra III. The SNES games look and sound better but are less interesting in terms of story and gameplay

To add another point to the Aladdin discussion, I don't think Aladdin running around hacking and slashing people in the Genesis version fits the character. It's similar to how I feel about The Adventures of Batman and Robin on the Genesis being a run n gun game featuring a character who abhors guns. It just doesn't fit. The SNES version is a better representation of the character.

And getting back to Aladdin, seeing him use his acrobatic abilities (jumping on people Mario style, swinging on stuff, gliding through the air, etc.) and attacking people with non violent means (apples) seems like a truer representation of the character.

The Genesis versions of some cross platform, licensed games had that annoying habit of forcing characters into play styles that don't fit them, which makes them feel like games that feature the characters but aren't really about the characters.

All four games are classics in their own right and I also tend to get the impression that the developers were allowed to go a little nuts in the design of the Genesis games.

I really do love that Konami put forth the effort to create unique entries in their big franchises instead of relying solely on half-assed ports. I wish Capcom had given even half the crap that Konami did. Imagine what a Genesis exclusive Mega Man spin-off might have looked like instead of Wily Wars which we didn't even get in the US.

Which is kind of hilarious when you consider it's the version Disney had a more direct hand in creating.

Thanks man, yeah it would have been good to at least touch on them, the problem being i don't have a sega cd, 360 or ps3. eventually it'll get an addenum :)
