- Not playing Ocarina of Time at the time.
Buying a PS2 in 2001 because my Dreamcast died when they stopped making new ones. I believe the store only offered me £149 credit, what I had paid for the Dreamcast, and I put it towards a PS2 with Gran Turismo 3. Wish I had kept the credit and pre-ordered a Gamecube. I didn't jump on the Gamecube bandwagon until 2003, but part of this was because all my friends had a PS2.
Selling all my magazines.
Selling my N64. I had it since 1998, and sold it to a friend two years ago. I think because I've had it since it was new, I hold some sort of affection towards it, rather than the second hand consoles somebody else grew up playing.

I would say all the consoles and games I've sold, but part of the fun comes in actually finding and buying the games. Other than that:

Needless to say, I left a nasty review on Yelp and have blacklisted him among the group of gamers I hang out with.
I had forgotten about it until a couple hours ago when I was looking at buying a Pokemon game for my Game Boy. I needed to get this of my chest.
So it's HIS fault that you didn't know what you had? You were embarrassed and upset with yourself, so you took it out on someone else? I fail to see how he's an asshole.

That's how fighting games are.. You'll ALWAYS find someone better..BoneSnapDeez wrote:In high school everyone had Tetris on their TI-86. I was the king. I spent countless hours playing and practicing. My high score was vastly superior to anyone's. Anyone who tried to compete with me failed miserably. I graduated with the all-time best Tetris score of Massabesic High School.
The next year I met a random girl in the college dorms. She had a TI-86 and I happened to notice that she had Tetris on it. I scoped out her high scores - her best was DOUBLE what mine was. Even her worst recorded score (I think the program kept a list of five) was still better than my best. And she wasn't a hardcore player at all, just used the game to keep herself busy on the bus or whatever.
It was a humbling experience to say the least.

I have both a TI-89 and a TI-83 Plus... The former for naive teachers..nightrnr wrote:The TI-86 had at least a couple features the others lacked. I just remember a matrix function that helped me get a better grade on one of my finals (I believe it got me an A in Trig., not from cheating, but because I could check my work quickly and accurately).
Plus, it had more memory than the others, at the time. Not that I really made use of that bonus though; I never had even one game on the thing.

Oh yeah... letting a friend borrow my Sega Genesis with 25 games when I was too busy playing Playstation and never got it back. I kept really good care of my games and I had some good ones. Had to rebuy them since.

That sucks. I guess it's a mistake to expect other people to treat stuff the way you would (in this case as a borrowed item).shwisha wrote:Oh yeah... letting a friend borrow my Sega Genesis with 25 games when I was too busy playing Playstation and never got it back. I borrowed a friend's SNES and a slew of RPG's once, and a different friend joked that I should keep them and basically do the same thing. But I can't imagine actually letting it happen (how would I sleep at night, I mean after losing sleep to the games themselves
I have my own impressive SNES collection now, each item sought and bought individually all on my own.

Kidding, of course, I mean, it does happen without ill intent.
I think I still have some Kurt Kobain posters that an old friend bought and left at my house before moving. I wonder if he even remembers it (or if I'll ever find it again or if if it's even worth anything).

Wait until you get older when shit happens in life and you'll wish video games were in your way.GirlGamer55 wrote:Well I bet gaming has never gotten in your way of...anything has it? Ever picking up a damn controller in the first place. I mean how many hours, days, weeks, months and years could I have back if I never picked up an NES controller and played Super Mario Bros? That got me addicted to gaming and has caused idk how many problems in my life and for what? Some fictional characters getting a happy ending? I might love gaming but given the chance I think I would go back and stop my younger self...
Of course, it's never too late to go back and play stuff. That's why this site exists in the first place, right?
