Every one drinks tap water here. Bottled water isn't even sold anywhere, unless it's flavored or in a soda machine. Though things were quite different in Greece and parts of Italy if I recall, you had to buy all your water from store because the tap water was undrinkableForlorn Drifter wrote: Another note- Americans man up enough to actually drink tap water, instead of getting that carbonated crap.

American Customer: Water.
European Clerk: Ugh. Bubbles or no bubbles?
Seems like "Bubbles" is the standard, but my traveling in Europe is very, very limited.

On some islands maybe, the mainland never had any trouble that I know of.Menegrothx wrote: Every one drinks tap water here. But we don't sell "flavored" or "bubbles" water here. I remember in Germany I almost died of dehydration (might be overdramatizing here) because they didn't sell normal bottle water anywhere, and I hated the bubbles water they love to drink so much.
Plus the clerks were fucking morons, I kept asking them if it's normal water and they kept saying yes.

Yeah I don't understand the appeal of those bubbles and flavored types of water either
And yes my experience of Greece is limited to the tourist trap islands. Arid islands with way too many tourists (and pools), no wonder they have problems with water.

I just said that based on what family and friends experienced. My family did some touring and such and most places they had to specifically ask for non-carbonated. I believe they didn't have that problem in Ireland or the U.K. as much, but I'd have to ask.Menegrothx wrote:Every one drinks tap water here. Some friends of mine spent two weeks in Germany, stopping in Amsterdam before, and they could hardly find any non-carbonated water.
I just assumed it was that way all over Europe, since we're sticking a bunch of different countries with different societal views and opinions all together in comparison of one other country. (Sarcasm! Yay!) Here though, I've drank some bad water. At my Uncle's house for a while, they had oil fumes leaking into the well, and it came through the tap. You could light the water coming out of the tap on fire. Still drank it.

I was just playing with stereotypes, as I've been told my whole life that women in Eastern Europe are all around good looking, as well as being the "perfect" wife. (Supposed to be loyal, listen well, have high sex drives, dependent on you, etc... sucks for those poor fools.) I've always heard a lot about European girls dressing better, but I don't really know.ZeroAX wrote: bah, biggest bull of crap I've heard. Sorry mate. I traveled through Europe. Eastern European women have the best bodies (they work out much probably? Much more than southern European girls) and the best taste in clothes (this is mostly compared to northern European women who seem to like to dress as worse as possible). But their faces are nothing great. Same thing as in most countries. Hot girls, average girls and ugly girls.
Personally I prefer central European girls (Czech, Slovakian and Hungarian are the best of both worlds when it comes to bodies and faces), and Southern European girls when it comes to face and sex appeal via character (they are what you'd say hot blooded which makes them more interesting to me, and way more fun).
Also for those who love stereotype jokes (like me)

I just wish more women wore dresses or skirts. You don't see it that often.

Huh, in all of the European countries I've visited, no bubbles is definitely preferred. The includes France, Spain, Belgium and Luxembourg, aswell as here in Britain. I always thought sparkling water was there to trick tourists.

I don't know....I don't think those kind of women exist anywhereForlorn Drifter wrote: I was just playing with stereotypes, as I've been told my whole life that women in Eastern Europe are all around good looking, as well as being the "perfect" wife. Yeah, sorry to insult your country, but that dressing better thing? 100% true.....waaaay better.
Really? They are pretty common here and in Italy. I can't remember Spain. They were common in Turkey too, but a little too long for my tastes

It might just be an issue in Texas, but here its all jeans or short-shorts. Its kinda rare to ever see girls in dresses or skirts unless its specifically dressing up or something like that. I just wish they were more common.ZeroAX wrote:I don't know....I don't think those kind of women exist anywhereForlorn Drifter wrote: I was just playing with stereotypes, as I've been told my whole life that women in Eastern Europe are all around good looking, as well as being the "perfect" wife. Dressing better is probably true, and those women? They don't exist, just like a man with a six pack and good personality doesn't exist.

Uuugh, carbonated water. I would rather drink dust than drink it again.
Europe is split on its use. The south and west don't drink it but Germans, Danish and everyone up north love it as much as a kid loves his blanket.
EDIT: Ha! It seems everyone has noticed too!

Funnily "United Statesians" would be a literal translation of "Estadounidense", which is common and valid in Spanish. I agree it's absurd to complain about it, tough,.Gunstar Green wrote:What do you call us otherwise? United Statesians? That wouldn't work even if it didn't sound stupid. "Subsist" is a nice way to put it. Those garbage cans New Yorkers call the subway aren't actual trains if you ask me.It's weird that you're complaining about Americans hating public transportation but talking about New York, a city that subsists on it.
It's true, no question about it. When you first arrive to the US you feel as if everyone wore the same kind of T-shirts and jeans bought at the same place.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I've always heard a lot about European girls dressing better, but I don't really know.
