Earthbound NOW available on Wii U VC!?

I would consider getting this if I had a Wii U... BUT, I already have a copy (cart only) that I won on Ebay years ago for about $40.

On a semi related note, I also heard that Shantae was released on the 3ds VC today, can anyone confirm? If so, today is a great day for VC releases since we are getting 2 great, very expensive in physical form games

Hopefully thatll make it drop from the $240ish price it has been sitting at for a while.

I'm just hoping I can finally pick up Earthbound for less than 150.

why the hell is the Wii U eshop so convoluted? Why did they have to mess it up when the Wii version was just fine? How do you search for just virtual console games by just system?

^^^ They really need to do something about this. I got the latest system update today and the very first thing I was hoping to see was an updated eShop format along with it. But sadly the only thing exciting happening in the eShop was Earthbound (which is still pretty damn cool). I hope they get Nintendo's developers to do something about the eShop format soon because right now it is seriously lacking any kind of good user interface or wide array of games!

really? I don't know. Wii has a huge install-base. Just my guess.

I recall reading somewhere that Nintendo actually builds an emulator from the ground up, to run each specific game that they port to the VC, so that it can be of upmost accuracy. It could be that getting the game to run at what they consider "proper" on the Wii or 3DS might actually take more than just simply dumping an SNES emulator and rom.

I am pretty happy to see them release it anywhere. Also, if having Earthbound specifically on your Wii is really what you want, its pretty simple to do.

With the 3DS VC focusing on portable games, perhaps there is some slim chance that we will see Mother 3 on the 3DS, although I don't expect it.

Well yeah, IIRC people have hacked the emulators in Wii VC games and discovered that they often don't run very well with games other than the ones they're bundled with, so yeah.

I agree that it probably would take more than a mere rom+emu dump, I'm just clarifying a small point.

Injecting roms into VC games is very interesting to me. Random games work with games you would assume are completely different.
