Is there a way to tell whether the painting is legit before buying it from him??

There is a guide at the bottom of this page: http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Forged_Painting

Each painting or statue is based on a real piece of artwork. The fake has some difference, sometimes obvious, sometimes less so. This is only in New Leaf mind, there's not way to tell in the older ones.

Yeah, being able to figure out the fakes is nice.

So... what does everyone's turnip prices look like? Mine are really low (35 bells), and I'm looking to cash my turnips in.

Mine were 183 today, but unfortunately the shops shut now, it's almsot midnight here.

That is awesome that they put in a way to identify fakes. I pretty much never bough from Red in the older games, I always got screwed!

I bought my Turnips for 90 Bells, and my price today was 63.

I'm looking forward to seeing how much more money the wealth ordinance will net me tomorrow. I have a locker full of already-pricey fish that I've been stocking up on all day so that, ideally, I'll make back the 20k I spent on the ordinance in the first day.

Picked up a 3DS and Animal Crossing this past weekend. Wow, this game is great! I loved the Gamecube version the most and so far, I think I like this one more.

2380-3263-2948 is my friend code.
I have Oranges. I have most other fruits too.
I have a Bell Boom Ordinance, for selling things off quickly.
The island is active.

Add me if you'd like! :) If you want me to add you, I will, just send me a PM with your friend code.

Re-tail is currently buying perfect pears at my town for a higher price today. If anyone has any they want to sell, I guess this would be the most ideal. :)

Also, still looking for some good turnip prices. Alienjesus, if your prices are still good I wouldn't mind visiting your town later today when I get off work, if you wouldn't mind.

So my Wife has pretty much figured out how to make money crazy quick. She goes to the island and catches every large beetle that shows up (the fruit beetles are not worth much) and if any sharks show up while she is making laps, she catches those too. After filling the box up to take back home (about 15 minutes worth of catching) she ends up with 100k+ bells from re-tail. I did this last night (there were beetles everywhere!) and ended up with just over 100k.

I just got my second story addition to my house, I wish the game would throw some more furniture at me though, my house is pretty bare currently, but I do have a lot of Nintendo items from the fortuine cookies, I have been wearing the Samus helmet for the past week.

Wallcrusher: Sounds good man, I'll check my turnip prices too when I get home.

Jay_red: Have you done errands for the villagers? Sometimes the rewards are furniture. That and when the stores start to upgrade, you'll see a greater quantity of furniture items.
