Still, if you want someone to do the mod for you, just give them this link as it explains what to do. (or if you are up to the challenge of doing it yourself :wink: ) I imagine that anyone who regularly does console mods or repairs should be capable of you doing it.

Ah yes, thanks for doing that. I'll try to decide whether I'll get a Sync Strike or do this.
QUESTION! Does audio breakout mean I have to have separate audio cables from SCART?

In this case, audio breakout just means that you are separating the audio from the SCART cable somehow. Typically to phono plugs (also known as RCA). Since the GBS does not process audio, you'll need to get audio to your speakers somehow.

There are lots of ways to go about it. Many SCART switches have it built in as does the Sync Strike. I've even seen some console SCART cables with it built in (like this one) And of course you can mod a SCART cable yourself which is done in the example that I linked earlier today.

There is a VGA audio in on the HD TV I'm using but yeah, I could just use audio out from the SCART switcher into the built-in audio on the scaler, right?

Close, that particular scaler doesn't do audio. You'd go from your switcher straight into the TV with you audio cables.

Well if the TV is in VGA mode with VGA audio in how would L & R cables work with it?

VGA does not carry audio. Look for L/R jacks on the TV paired with its VGA.

Unless the normal L/R Audio jacks below work with it (which I hope do) I only have the single VGA audio in.
Okay so the two PS1 RGB cables I have were both wired the same but come out as composite so the SCART in the HD TV is not RGB-enabled, but the assumedly RGB SCART cable for GameCube comes out as what I think is Composite with things like diagonal moving lines.

Lots of TVs have a 3.5mm audio jack paired with the VGA input. Based on what you are describing, that is probably what you have. You'd just need a cable like this to connect your audio. http://www.monoprice.com/mobile/Product ... Id=1021804

Well fortunately that's (sort of) exactly what I have and I have been pondering what it's for. It's just that the L/R audio is input rather than output, so I'll use a L/R to L/R cable.
So I'd just need the GBS-8200, SCART-modification/Sync Strike (and I might go with the latter because honestly I don't know where I could get that done and it could possibly cost the same) and a 2 VGA cables/male to male things.

£18
£24
(VGA cable + VGA Male to Male)

So it would go like:

Console -> RGB SCART -> Sync Strike -> Male to Male -> GBS-8200* -> VGA cable -> TV
-> L/R to L/R -> L/R to VGA Audio -> TV
*(+ Male to Male -> SLG 3000)?

Also, will Component on the GBS-8200 look better than the normal Component input on the HD TV?

This part is correct. I'm not following you with the second part about the audio. Simply put, you'd just connect a RCA to 3.5mm audio cable from the Sync Strike to your TV in addition to the above configuration.

You are going to get tired of hearing this, but it will depend entirely on your TV. It could go either way. Some TVs have better built-in scaling than others.
