You're not alone. I totally don't understand all the hate it's getting in this thread.

Yeah, same here. I thought the two on GBA were fantastic, and the DS one was at least decent.

Certainly don't even approach being worthy of 'worst RPGs'.

I agree. Despite the complaint on here, they really aren't in the same universe as dross like Hydlide...

I don't think Golden Sun is bad at all, just a bit overrated. Got way more hype than it deserved. In all fairness, it's probably one of the better GBA RPGs.

The first Hydlide isn't that bad considering its age and the fact that the NES version is a port of an old computer game. Parts II and III are pretty mediocre. Virtual Hydlide is a complete mess.

Ive not played the second one, but the first one was REALLY easy. After I found out I could reset my Djinns after every battle, each match started with a summon.

Yes, Golden Sun was just a bit simple. Well made, but not for hardcore gamers.

Wow. This thread has made me simultaneously regret ever purchasing Lunar Dragon Song and relieved that I did not pay more than $10 for it CIB. I've been on the fence about starting playing it someday, but now I think I'd rather just get rid of it.

Although not a terrible RPG, an extremely disappointing RPG was Final Fantasy 8. It tried to use the summoning spirit junctioning from FF6, but got it completely wrong. Characters can't even use items during combat without being junctioned to a Guardian Force. They can't use bombs or healing tonics... they can't even toss a wad of pocket lint at enemies without being junctioned. Watching the playthrough of FF8 on The Spoony Experiment really brought back lots of memories of why I did not like this game. Yet, I grudgingly played through and completed it. The puzzles at the final castle or whatever was interesting, at least.

One RPG I gave up on was Thousand Arms. Again, not a bad RPG, but it was disappointing. I love the Sakura Taisen series, and since this game was made by Red Company, I had high hopes. Combat is 2D linear, so I thought it may be a turn-based version of the Tales of Phantasia combat system. Nope. By linear it really was just standing in line. Only the front guy can attack, and the ones in back can only support. Thus, combat became rather tedious. Fortunately, I sold the game for more than what I paid for it, thanks to its popularity.

Although it's an SRPG, I really didn't care for Hoshigami Remix for the DS. I think it's a poorly designed SRPG. The grinding is extremely tedious with very little payoff, especially when your dumb characters get killed and you're unable to revive them. I just gave up on this game after about 10 hours or so and went on to Luminous Arc, a far better SRPG for the DS.

Damn you prfsnl_gmr!

I'm never going to be able to look at anime the same way again!

I've already begun to have a hard time enjoying anime style anymore because of those freaky anime masks and girls that tweek their makeup to look like anime characters. Now this "precious moments" association. I just don't know if I can take it anymore.

I pronounce it like Hide-Lied, although to be fair, I really pronounce it "hiiiide-liiiieed", because I can no longer say it without thinking of the Angry Video Game Nerd episode about the NES version of Hydlide.
