Yeah I noticed, but I was at the airport and had to spend my last pounds before I went back to €-landReprise wrote: Yes. I just re-read your post above and was about to edit my post. HMV do indeed do that. At least sometimes. I'm not sure why, but they're fairly inconsistent with it, as I bought Max Payne 3 from HMV and it was sealed. Otherwise, I don't tend to buy new games from HMV as they're rarely any cheaper and I'd prefer a sealed copy.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles out of print?
Most people I know that shop at GS don't put up with it. If the game is opened, they won't buy it. If my local GS only has an open copy of a "new" game left, they're always willing to order me one that's sealed. And for that matter, they're always willing to get me another copy of a game if the disc is bad or the artwork is stickered, they'll replace a cracked case on a dollar game if I want them to. You just have to say "no" to the few bad things they do and they end up being a decent place to deal with.No what I trully don't understand is why you guys put up with it.
As far as the pricing goes, I don't care what they charge for Xenoblade Chronicles. I don't care if they held onto their copies waiting for price to go up, because they're still cheaper than most everywhere else. I don't care how much they charge for their most expensive games, because they're a business. What's the difference if they hold onto games until they go up more and sell them for $90 or some guy buys up all the remaining stock at $45 and flips them online for $100?
Recently they were selling Gamecube Component cables for $1, Gameboy players for less than $5, and tons of other stuff for well under "market" value. If you've been "exploited" by Gamestop, it's your own fault.

Xenoblade Chronicles is listed as a "vintage video game" on the GameStop website.

Vintage, lol. US release was less than 1 1/2 years ago.

It's the same sort of thing as when people equate valuable with rare.ZenErik wrote:Vintage, lol. US release was less than 1 1/2 years ago.

Working at a independent store I have to chime in. I'm sorry but we have to remove the game from the case in at least one copy for the floor. People steal way too damn often, the plastic cases cost money and can be broken open once they are gotten home so they serve no purpose.
We keep extra copies for new releases still minty sealed and give those out first one but sadly there is no way around keeping an opened and then resealed copy on the floor.

I don't mind buying "new" games from Slackers when I'm actually getting the display copy because they bother to re-shrinkwrap it so it stays nice despite being out on the shelf. I wish Gamestop would do the same.KDub wrote:Working at a independent store I have to chime in. I'm sorry but we have to remove the game from the case in at least one copy for the floor. This is true, we do take better care of stuff than GS.

Why not do the card thing like Toys R Us used to do?
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles out of print?
Because we'd have to print out nice ones that people would actually look at the box art/description of. Or we'd have tons of cards and no games on the floor at all and it would look messy and lame. If we'd have just plain cards people would constantly want to look at the game which would waste time for employees.
Top that with the already constant need to clean up after shitty customers and we'd have a mess of paper everywhere. It's bad enough with people who move whole shelves of game cases around.
