Sandy has come and left NC with minimal damage. I think the worst damage we have taken is a missing captain who may have gone down with a prop ship. That, and some redbox stations aren't working.

So on the upper East Coast, any threats of looting or shenanigans?

Steady 45+ mph winds here. So far so good on the power scene (knock on wood). It's those big trees swaying to and fro around our home that puts me a tad on edge. I've got a backup nat. gas heater in the basement if the power dies. Not to mention enough rations and equipment to withstand the zombie apocalypse. I truly live for these moments. 8)

The power has been flickering for a while up here. According to the weathermen, we're about to see the worst the storm has to offer. Plenty of food, ammo, and water, and the tubs filled for flushing, so I think we'll be fine.

I have to admit though, this seems to be one of those times where having a smartphone would be a good idea.

I just checked News12 and the guy said "probably about half" of LI is without power right now. The power flickered on and off a few times, as I said earlier, but hasn't for a while now. ::knocks on wood:: The lights aren't even flickering as much anymore. I guess LI isn't out of it just yet. LOL, the lights just dimmed as I was typing this. Better hurry up and post this!

edit: Just heard on News12, half a million power outages reported by LIPA. Lots of downed trees and wires.

Be careful, guy. You're right in it. I'm about 1/2 hr. East of Gettysburg, and 2 1/2 hrs. West of Philly. It's not too bad here; mostly just persistent drenching rain.

You and the lady can bunk here if your roof collapses or something. Feel free to stow your gaming gems in the basement until the storm blows over. I've got two vests with sapi plates and plenty of guns and ammo to combat bandits, vagrants, and pesky dobermans.

I think a cell tower from my carrier went down. I'm getting no bars. If I go outside, I can get one or two bars for a few seconds, but then it goes away again. This kinda sucks because I have that damn Optimum land line. So if the power goes out, I have no land line. And now I have no cell. Luckily my brother has a work cell that seems to be working fine, in case of an emergency.

Nuts.

One of my best friends who became a Father just a couple weeks ago needs to leave DC/Arlington. Power is out and his wife is concerned.

Scituate, MA seems to be getting the same ol' stormy waves. I guess they're concerned about the midnight tides right now, but up in the boonies it's just blustery.
I was pretty unaffected by Irene last year, too, but woke up to hear that a good portion of Vermont got F-ed in the A. So I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow, if Sandy actually doubles down on New England like the forecast is saying.
