Re: Which Generation was best? (Pokemon Poll)
I will always be a fan of Ken Sugimori's older artwork, with all the jaggy lines and rough, sketchy feel to it. However, the simplicity of most of the Gen 1 designs and the lack of multiple colors was also due in part to sprite and 4-color limitations. If Sugimori and the rest of the art team had started Pokemon on the GBA or had access to more digital art stuff, they would have probably made the original 151 a lot more intricate (even with this some of the originals like Rhyhorn are still way too overdesigned. I dare you to try and draw one without a reference.)

I have nothing to add, but I do want to say that you've made some really good points on this issue. New Pokemon just feel inconsistent with the world and style that the original generations created.

Hey, thanks! Have to say, I had considered doing an article on this for a while but it wasn't until you mentioned the animated/inanimated thing and other stuff that it all clicked in my head. So thanks a lot

There are 151 Pokémon. No more. Any other Pokémons, games, trading cards etc. are FAKE. There is no such thing as "Generation 2", "Pokémon for DS" or "Saphire Version".
There is only red, blue and yellow.
Anything else is BLASPHEMY
One who refuses to acknowledge and appreciate the newer generations of Pokemon are simply not real Pokemon fans. That seems to be a lot of you in this forum.
If you liked the Philadelphia Eagles in 1984 (just a randomly picked year) but you don't like them now then how can you call yourself an Eagles fan?

I'm not much of a pokemon fan anymore. No doubt about it.pankakes123 wrote:eskil wrote:Here's my take:

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Oh, c'mon, that's just a terrible excercise in semantics and measures of scottish descent.
