What games express sheer joy?

Nah see Key-Glyph and I are on the same page. The guys in the bubbles even twitch every now and then, at least in the older games.

In actuality I prefer to imagine that I'm "freeing" them.

The sad thing is that I honestly have to keep myself from overthinking this stuff or I wind up feeling bad -- especially if a game has a cutesy aesthetic. As a kid I came up with an alternate explanation for what happens when you nuke your Lemmings (they're just teleporting! With confetti! Yaaay!), and I occasionally feel uncomfortable competing against NPCs in puzzle games if they make particularly pitiful faces when they're losing. Case in point, Puzzle Bobble for X-Box Live is difficult for me to play against the computer. And then there's the conundrum that is Pokémon.

What's more joyous than returning the sunshine to a tribe of chickens? Enemies morph into bubbles filled with fruit when they die, the music is beyond cheerful, and you get to roll giant eggs around; feeding them fruit, until they hatch into all sorts of neat items. Visuals are bright and colorful, and the gameplay is exhilarating.

This game warms my heart every time I play it.

I shouldn't have to explain Hey You Pikachu and Pokemon Channel.
Any game that has beautiful scenery in any level. Examples include any daytime level in Billy Hatcher, the city stage in Sonic Adventure 2, Isle Delfino in Super Mario Sunshine, Moga Woods in Monster Hunter Tri.
Games like Metal Slug and Shock Troopers when you have infinite credits, especially in co-op. It feels like you're on top of the world and nothing can take you down. It's glorious.
And the Chao Garden. I shouldn't have to explain this either.

This game warms my heart every time I play it.

Every time I play it, the title screen warms my heart, then the actual gameplay makes me rage something chronic with it's horrible camera and cheap deaths.
