If it had built-in Wi-Fi and someone created a portable LCD screen (akin to those on the PSone, GameCube, et al.) I could see throngs of PAX attendees with bushels of cubes strapped to their backs, plugging power strips in nearby outlets and having on-the-spot gaming klatches.KDub wrote:The hilarious part is that isn't that over exaggerated at what would really happen.
A Steam console?

Or no power strip required if there's a rechargeable strap on battery thingamabob. That way, it can be half portable, half home console (sort of like the Supaboy, but with a separate controller required even in portable mode).

Hm. Well, they did have battery packs for the PSone, so I can see that. But having a LiON battery as a default accessory is going to drive the price up a notch.GameMasterGuy wrote:Or no power strip required if there's a rechargeable strap on battery thingamabob. Am I the only one that thinks this might all be smoke and mirrors and that steam maybe on the next generation of systems possibly PS4? Or maybe that they are working with one of the big three?

Never said default, it could be something you pay extra for. Oh no, paying extra for something modern and gaming related after buying it once, what a nightmare, hope that never happens.pakopako wrote:Hm. It is likely, but a dedicated steam HTPC would be neat.flex wood wrote:Am I the only one that thinks this might all be smoke and mirrors and that steam maybe on the next generation of systems possibly PS4? Or maybe that they are working with one of the big three?

That would be freaking awesome. If it was like a Roku XS, where the gaming part is Steam?fastbilly1 wrote:It is likely, but a dedicated steam HTPC would be neat.flex wood wrote:Am I the only one that thinks this might all be smoke and mirrors and that steam maybe on the next generation of systems possibly PS4? I can't wait for Big Picture, I hope this means we'll actually see it some time soon.

I personally think it would be pretty cool, especially considering I'm pretty sick of the three consoles we have now - another entrant into the current console war would be pretty interesting!
