Oh I had a moment just like that too. Calling Cannon Spike (Arcade/DC) a shmup because it was developed by Psikyo when it's more of a top down third person shooter-- posted this shortly there after

Cannon Spike has sooo many shmup-like elements though. Certainly different from the traditional classification, but all those bullet-hell sequences and what not. I almost agree with you.

Its a Shoot-Em-Up. You shoot em, they go up. Bullets are dodged. Mega Man's in it, so it's gotta be good.

Right, those who saw my mistake also offered the same thing. The elements are there, because after all it is Psikyo! Plus Capcom characters. :D

And it is an arena-shooter, not too unlike SmashTV or Gauntlet, both subdivisions of "Shoot'em Ups" though not necessarily the first game people think of when they hear the term.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
