Played this for a little bit on MAME. I seriously don't remember how I got the score that I did.
Oh well, I'll keep at it. I usually catch on at some point.

Yeah, when I was trying to figure stuff out, I hit 24 mil. Now I'm struggling to hit 15.mjmjr25 wrote:Yeah, i'm topping out in the 11-12 mil range right now and before I got 16 mil when I didn't know what I was doing...

I HATE that in shmups man. Those runs you do at first that end up being higher scores than after you learn the scoring system. Sucks haha.mjmjr25 wrote:Yeah, i'm topping out in the 11-12 mil range right now and before I got 16 mil when I didn't know what I was doing...

That happens to me constantly. I didn't know it was, like, a "thing."

My stage 1 score is definitely improving - but overall survival and length of my runs is much shorter. I used to get to 3rd boss or early stage 4, now i'm rarely even getting to stage 3.

Glad to see you guys are playing some Ketsui. I'll have to join in on the action!

I'm trying to hold off on this until noise...or fox...or jep...or ??? join me, but like the superfreak says, this game is like crack.
Starting to really play stage 1 well - getting 8-10 mil and full up on bombs/lives.
Stage 2, i'm still bombing the midboss's first form and eventually i'll have to stop that to really progress. Also, pro-tip - there is a MASS of popcorn enemies right after this midboss, be sure get the first one w/a "5" and then just laser - it looks to be about 1.5-1.7mil from this chain alone.
Stage 3 starts to pick it up w/those boats that won't go down - i'm still dying out around this area.
I digress, best score to date:
19,113,599 - mjmjr25 - Tiger-Schwertz - Stage 3 - PS3 Arcade Mode

Re: Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi - HI SCORES
^I know dude - i'm trying to just play other stuff, but this game is really calling me right now. I didn't get into the first time I when I put a week into it...just didn't grasp the scoring (which is quite simple really) and I just wasn't playing aggressive like you need to - so was just getting killed.
Anyways, i'll stay away from arcade mode for now. Gave X-Mode a try. I like it. (Ellert...scoreboard, please ???)
X-Mode sorta plays the same as most black label or alternate versions of CAVE games, but this is the first time that I feel the alternate version will make you better at the arcade version. In games like Galuda II, I feel like black label plays so opposite the arcade, it makes it really confusing, not so w/X-Mode.
In X-Mode not all enemies will drop the green blocks, rather larger enemies will highlight, and the closer you are to those, the higher block they drop, THEN other enemies will start to drop blocks...and the bullets on screen from that enemy cancel out and turn into blocks (much higher scoring).
The bullet canceling - as always, is huge, really pulls you out of some jams, particularly on 3rd stage. That boat midboss is insane btw.
Anyways, first runs were rough, but 3rd run felt pretty darn good:
62,571,790 - mjmjr25 - Tiger Schwert - Stage 3 (boss) - PS3 X-Mode
