More specifically, it's right at the beginning of stage 2, after taking out the big ship in the middle and a set of guns, look for a castle surrounded by trees on the left, and bomb right near the upper right corner of the castle, and you'll see TONS of them flying out. Empty all your bombs, and even touching the last few increase your score. As Dun mentioned earlier, done right with enough bombs, you should get 1 mil and your first extend.
With Gain, and mass stocking/suiciding for bombas, I've hit 2.3 mil at those trees. Standing on them isn't whats giving you a small amount of points (As far as I know), shooting them is whats doing that. So, once you run out of bombs, start point-blanking 2 or 3 that are near each other.

The great thing about Gain's bomb is that it can be stacked. Meaning, you can bomb, and then before that bomb is done, you can lay another bomb over it. This allows for more points than any other character can get at the trees.

However, Gain is naturally fast, and his bomb, while good with birds and burning trees, will not be likely to save you in a panic-bomb situation. Even with great milking, I usually score higher with Wild Snail variants, because with speed up, the ship is at a perfect speed, and since I can panic-bomb, I can make it to stage 5.

Someone beat me so I can start playing this again

There are quite a few emulators out there I believe. I use shmupmame. It's fairly easy, download an emulator, find a compatible rom (romnation has just about everything), download the rom, move it to the roms folder of your emulator, then launch your emulator program, find the game, and your off. Some usb corded sticks will work off the bat, some need to be mapped in the emulator menu, some need to be mapped on the in game menu.

I use a Microsoft Sidewinder USB game-pad for my PC games and for emus. Plugs in with no fuss, has 2 triggers like my DC, and could almost be passed off for an Xbox controller had it had every single feature on it

Was setting up a good Axelay score, now back to a game where I don't know all the ins n outs of yet

2,533,390 - ExedExes - Stage 3 - Gain - MAME

GETTING THERE thanks to your invaluable hint on bomb-stacking!

I will play as the Golden Bat again as well, but it won't be as good as Gain

I'd try to claim the top spot tonight, but my brain hurts. Headache ugh.

BTW, I noticed that the original post says "1up at 1 million". I did not get a 1 up at 1 million on MAME. hmm...

Huh, weird. Maybe you should check the dipswitches and see what they are set at. I haven't tried the game in MAME, but I always can.

Found a guide on what to do. It's version 2 or something that adds the 1 mill extends. Also changes the bullets to be more typical so they're easier to see. I'll try this out with a stick when I'm feeling better. Tried a run on the keyboard and did rather poorly.

I'm going to pump some major hours into this thing over the weekend. I am embarrassed i've had this game for a few years and probably have less then 6 hours into it.

Hopefully this thread will get all of us putting the time into this game that it deserves.

Damn Exed, you were so close. I'll have to play this next time I get a chance.
