In game, go to your equipment screen and click on the gears (I think). Bottom left corner
Thanks for the help. There is nothing in the bottom left except "calibrate motion plus". I guess it doesn't appear until after I get through the "tutorial". I still haven't found my Skyloft. ;)

All pointing uses the sensor bar - ie slingshot and bow
I'm fairly certain it doesnt and it all uses the motion plus. It makes no sense that you'd be able to 'centre' your pointing if it was all IR, you'd get to the point where you wouldnt be pointing at the sensor bar at all.

I assumed that this was the case.

I have been using the Classic Controller to access all of my games for the past year. It's inconvenient, but it's been my only option. This limited accessibility has me wishing for an option for the Classic Controller for all Wii games, as several games within my collection are completely unplayable without the sensor bar.

This really makes me miss the old days when all you had to do was plug a controller into a console and play. All this extra technology just means a greater probability of failure. (And before all the snobs chime in to lambast me for my lack of technological knowledge: I have taken excellent care of my Wii, as I have all my other consoles. It is in flawless cosmetic condition, plugged into a surge protector, and has never left its original placement in my living room.)

Nintendo's Technical Support contacted me today via email and instructed me to call them. Unfortunately, I was in class all day and didn't get to check my email until just a few minutes ago. So it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Ignore the snobs. Plugged-in controllers ftw.

I can vouch for this, you can have the remote pointed completely away from the TV and equip a sling shot and aim perfectly without pointing at the tv, just using the cross hair to aim correctly, then you can press down on the d-pad and it will "center" it to wherever the remote is pointed.

I agree about the plugged in controllers. No worries at all. Some might argue that someone might trip on the cord, but if they are walking between a gamer and his/her TV, that's a bad idea to begin with right there. Dogs? Dogs need to be taught their place and that place is not directly in front of the TV.

glynnahab, I imagine you've already thought of this but I must ask anyway just to make sure. What kind of lights do you have in your gaming room? Anything halogen or fluorescent? Have you tried turning ALL lights in the room off to see how it works? It is easy for the WiiMote to get confused by other light sources since it is just a toy, after all (kindly note my subtle passive aggressiveness towards the Wii). What kind of TV are you playing on? Is it, by chance, an LED TV? Have you tried it on different TVs? Sorry if you've already answered these questions with a previous post, I see only what I want to see when reading other's posts. :)

Those are all good questions, but unfortunately I've tried all those options. I've tried turning off all the lights. All the lights in my living room are lamps with lampshades covering old-fashioned light bulbs. And I am not playing it on an LED TV, just an old-fashioned television.

It's really weird. One day, the sensor bar suddenly stopped detecting the wii-mote, so I replaced it with a cheap 3rd party (Nyko) product that didn't work. My third sensor bar was a first party battery-powered wireless version, which worked for a few months. Then it too stopped working. Alternative light sources give me a flickering, barely-there cursor. After lots of googling and other research, I finally gave in and ordered one from Nintendo's online store. It didn't work either; no infrared lights were visible through the screen of my digital camera. Nintendo sent me a replacement free of charge. This one also didn't work.

For a while, I thought it might be a problem with my wii-motes. (Though I thought it was odd that both of them would stop working simultaneously.) That idea was squashed when I unsuccessfully tried using the brand new gold wii-mote that came with Skyward Sword.

It's a bummer, but I appreciate your attempted assistance. Since I'm polluting the Zelda discussion, I'll let it go for now. I'll give you guys an update after I contact tech-support tomorrow.

It's gotta be the sensor bar giving me problems because I have a brand new gold wii-mote that isn't being detected. I've tried using candles, LED lights, etc., all to no avail.
Sounds more like a system problem than the sensor bar.

Good point, well you could try loading it up without a sensor bar, I am curious to know if it works now.

Got dicked by Amazon. No bundle for me. Can't wait to break that to the news to my girlfriend who's been freaking out with anticipation. Never preordering from Amazon again. This is such bullshit. I had 3 reps confirm to me that my order was fine and it'd be here Wednesday. Nobody shops on Sunday here in Utah. Multiple stores have told me they weren't sold out until Monday. I've called over 20 stores and nobody has it.
