The 2600 never had online gaming because there was no online at that point, and more importantly I never heard of it.o.pwuaioc wrote:Wow, I never knew the 2600 did that.noiseredux wrote:Genesis? SNES? Famicom? 2600?jalvarez82 wrote:Question.
Was it the Dreamcast that really introduced online gaming? I think there was a system before it that tried it out. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's a myth that he said the aforementioned myths are opinions. Yours implies that he thinks they all are, his doesn't.MrPopo wrote:The myth is that the aforementioned myths are opinions.o.pwuaioc wrote:?
Fact: Saying that not all licensed games suck is purely an opinion.

No, it didn't. The PC did, and the first console to feature it was the SNES. There is a rare modem you can buy for it, which a very few games are compatible with for multiplayer.jalvarez82 wrote:Question.

Pfft, I could make the same article in photoshop tomorrow morning.noiseredux wrote:oh really?
Seriously though, that is awesome! I had no idea and I wonder how well it would have worked. I guess file sizes for 2600 games are probably small enough for phone line transmission, I just don't recall even 14.4kbps modems being common until the late 80s.
Still, this isn't online multiplayer, so my tomfoolery stands.

Not if you can provides tons of evidence of high scoring reviews for a variety of licensed games. An opinion becomes fact when you have evidence to back it upo.pwuaioc wrote:It's a myth that he said the aforementioned myths are opinions. Re: Widespread gaming history myths
I heard a myth once about the color of the original PSX. As I remember, the myth was supposed to be that Sony obtained a license to use Nintendo's patented version of gray in their brief co-venture to make the CD-add on for the SNES. Supposedly Sony used that color just to piss off Nintendo after their partnership fell through.
It was...maybe 11 years ago that I read about this. Seemed credible then - but ludicrous now.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
