any thing government related = instant conspiracy = metal gear
Re: Weird Gaming Associations
Every time I fire up Final Fantasy II (aka IV) I instantly remember all the massive drawings I made as a kid. I used to basically put to paper and then elaborate on this game. It still gets my creative juices flowing.

Whenever I hear a certain sort of elevator music with lots of piano in it, I feel like I'm building a house in the Sims.

Playing Paper Mario makes me crave chocolate covered rice krispie treats. Haha

The Lost Mind of Dr. Brain makes me crave Skittles.

Haha, I just remembered the commercial for Paper Mario:harper wrote:Playing Paper Mario makes me crave chocolate covered rice krispie treats. Haha
I remember seeing that on TV and laughing when the paper Mario "jumps" into the pond. I think the version I use to see was cut differently, but I definitely remember laughing at that.
And THAT reminds me of this commercial, which I must have seen on TV a million times:

Natural gas smell reminds me of Gameboy (mostly Kirby's Dreamland). I lugged my Gameboy to school everyday in my old Transformers lunch box http://img3.etsystatic.com/il_570xN.131515859.jpg to play at recess but when my battery pack started dying the only plug in I could use was near the natural gas meter.
Chuck E Cheese (or a similar tasting) pizza reminds me of Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles, Superman and The Simpsons arcade games and visa versa. I pumped those machines full of quarters when got treated a night out of pizza. Pizza hut pizza reminds me a lot of the Ninja Turtles because of the parties I had there as a kid.
7-eleven slirpies remind me of Game Pro magazine (use to go there all the time to buy/read the newest issue and get snacks for our weekend sleepovers/video game marathons.
Summer holidays reminds me of Secret of Mana because I bought that on the last day of school in grade 7.
Hickory sticks remind me of The King of Dragons for SNES. Snack of choice between my friend and I at that time.
I hear sounds and songs (just a note or two that have been put together) that remind me of songs from an old game or cartoon theme that I use to play/watch. Like the last note of "Come down" by Bush reminds me of Kefkas tower theme in Final Fantasy 3(SNES).
Musty basement smells remind me of Genesis (mostly Shining Force). The friend who had the Genesis had somewhat of a damp basement.
Crazy all these trigger effects.

Thing's that I'm looking for at the moment: Super Mario RPG manual(SNES), Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals map and cart(SNES), The King of Dragons Box and manual(SNES), Lufia and the fortress of doom CIB(SNES), Earthbound CIB(SNES), EVO: The Search for Eden CIB(SNES), Harvest Moon CIB(SNES), Mario Paint CIB(SNES), Bomberman Party Pak With Super Multitap(SNES), DoReMi Fantasies CIB(SFC).

I've seen this sort of thread before many times on many sites, and these associations here are by far the ones I've heard most often.TrevorF wrote:Chuck E Cheese (or a similar tasting) pizza reminds me of Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles, Superman and The Simpsons arcade games and visa versa. Similarly, smooth jazz immediately makes me think of Gran Turismo.

Re: Weird Gaming Associations
I associate Linkin Park's albums "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" with War of the Monsters on PS2 and My Chemical Romance's album "The Black Parade" with Runescape. Those aren't really all that weird, though, because my friend Sam and I would play those two LP CDs on repeat while we wasted HOURS on War of the Monsters, and I would play The Black Parade on repeat when I was in 8th grade and playing a good 8-10 hours of Runescape every day.
