No love for Gordon Teal or Jack Kilby?
We're software guys.
Gary Killdall then. The guy who really deserved what Bill Gates ended up getting. Great engineers always end up getting shafted by great businessmen(by which I mean horrible people). He died young though, so it wasn't really indicative of the end of an era.

It's sad that he died so young. He did do a lot for the industry, and this is coming from a major PC fan, and I hate it that people bring Mac VS PC into this. If Bill fucking Gates respected him, PC users should too. FFS

Also this made me think how we'll feel when the great gaming legends start dieing off. Will the world care when Sigeru Miyamoto dies? I mean the world outside gamers and Japan.

Steve Jobs should be remembered as the innovator or marketer and the man who saved Apple but NOT the inventor of all the Apple products. Unfortunately history will not play out this way. The Woz along with all the other engineers at each phase should be the ones to get the actual credit for the Apple II, Macintosh, iMac, iPhone and iPad.

I liked how the Onion handled it: http://www.theonion.com/articles/last-a ... ing,26268/

Seriously though, the man's ability to see the big picture was incredible. His commitment to long term and holistic planning should serve as a model to future technological and business innovators.

This wasn't unexpected, but man that guy was fighting tooth and nail against his "I have cancer" complexion. Seriously, big balls on Jobs for going out, promoting product, and pushing others in his company to do the same despite them possibly NOT having pancreatic cancer.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

I like my CEOs in jeans.

I'm a PC guy, but he contributed something unique to the tech world and Apple has always been a master of balancing form & function.
