The Japanese music industry isn't set up for popular musicians creating albums, though. They release single by single, then after enough singles are released, they throw them all together with some b-sides and another song or two, and call it a studio album.

Yeah, I don't think people/musicians in the West really buy/promote singles quite the way they do in Japan, though.
