To be honest I enjoy REmake much more, it's more scary, the zombies are more powerful, the mansion is bigger, it looks amazing and the script isn't laughable. I still like the original a lot, it's just that REmake is more refined. The DS port of the original is fantastic as well.Xeogred wrote:Good stuff. Have you played the original before or REmake? They're both totally worth playing. I played them back to back and still got a lot of enjoyment out of both to see the differences and all. Different enough to warrant replays, REmake adds a lot of stuff and looks gorgeous (even better than RE4 I'd say), and the original just has that hilarious B-grade charm to it. The voice acting and intro is legendary.

I've just always meant to play the original. I hope to tackle that with the upcoming October Horror gaming fest.

Nice. I should check out the DS port someday myself. I also never finished Zero out of all the RE's... which I honestly liked, I just marathoned all of them back to back last year and probably got burned out when I played that one last, haha. Maybe I'll try and hit that one up again for October.
@KillerJuan77: I agree I think REmake is the better game, still love original though. Anyone who is willing to give it a shot, I definitely recommend it.
The Dino Crisis games are great too. I haven't played 3 though, always heard iffy things about it...

Dino Crisis: Great, Dino Crisis 2: Amazing, Dino Crisis 3: Hadn't played it but dat visualsXeogred wrote:The Dino Crisis games are great too. I haven't played 3 though, always heard iffy things about it...
I got an old Xbox console 1 day ago so I should be able to get the game soon, I've heard awesome and terrible things about it, specially many people are complaining about the camera which is apparently atrocious. Considering my love of the series I should like it but who knows? I love Ninja Gaiden Sigma and I'm having some mixed thoughts about Ninja Gaiden II (It improves the arsenal, the gore and the visuals but they added a horrible camera, some massive framerate issues and cheap enemies/bosses).

I've always thought of Dino Crisis 2 as being Resident Evil 4 before there was a Resident Evil 4KillerJuan77 wrote:Dino Crisis: Great, Dino Crisis 2: Amazing, Dino Crisis 3: Hadn't played it but dat visualsXeogred wrote:The Dino Crisis games are great too. I've heard bad things about DC 3 too. I'd say that anyone who wants another good DC game should play Peter Jackson's King Kong. Half of the game is like a survival horror game with dinosaurs

I agree with the RE4 statement, it wouldn't shock me if they based RE4 on DC2.Gamerforlife wrote:I've always thought of Dino Crisis 2 as being Resident Evil 4 before there was a Resident Evil 4

As for more DC games, I have to agree with King Kong being one, although there is also another dinosaur killing game called Dinosaur Hunting, released for the Xbox and it's also a Japan exclusive (It doesn't shocks me that it's kind of rare).
Here's some gameplay from the cancelled US version:
Re: Which Version Is Best?
I always thought Dino Crisis 2 was amazing, but it got the most Flak. I feel the same about Parasite Eve as well. Both of the sequels were just more fun to me. The stories weren't necessarily better, but I felt the gameplay, despite great changes, was new and still amazing. I loved speed running through Dino Crisis 2, and Parasite Eve 2 with new weapons because the combat was just so fun.

Probably one of the worst games I've ever played, in my opinion.

Official Racketboy "which version should I play?" thread.
So you know how it is. Sometimes you're interested in a game but you can't decide between various versions or ports. This thread will be a good place to get recommendations to help settle on a version. Simply name your game, and which versions you're considering and let the community help guide you.
I'll start:
Disgaea -- I'm stuck between the PS2 version and the PSP version. Normally, I'm a console gamer, and tend to collect console games as my top priority. But I'm curious if there's something about the later PSP port that adds to the experience? They're both about the same price (and actually I own the PS2 version already but missing manual which irks me.)
