I can't seem to find a working version for ePSXe, the game locks up at the title screen with every rom ive tried. Also, SSF seems like a nightmare to operate for the Saturn version. D:

Any suggestions?

You can try using Dosbox for the PC version if you're playing it on a PC anyway.

Started it up and played through allegro presto (I think that was the name of the level) tonight. Had a lot of trouble with some of the platforming due to dying from falling off the screen, but the power up at the end made it so satisfying to complete that level. I'm enjoying this game more than I thought I would. I really want to pick up the Jaguar version down the road to play this game without load times and add a game I actually really enjoy to my Jaguar collection.

Quick note:

Do not ride a fruit into a photo checkpoint, you will be transported to the same Y-axis as the fruit landed on once the photo animation is over, which may be in the water (as it was with me) then when you respawn, it will be at that exact same point again, making you die instantly. It took all of my 20+ lives in seconds, and when I continued, the same thing happened again.

Ah well, time to roll back to an earlier save...

Wasn't able to get any of the roms working unfortunately. D: They all lock up at the loading screen. I bought a PS2 though just recently, so I think I'll go hunt down a PS1 copy and get back to you guys. :D

Grabbed a PSX copy recently. Planning to start soon when I'm not as busy. Always wanted to try this!

So I played this today for the first time (PS1 version) and the game is gorgeous. It reminds me of the 16-bit Psygnosis titles which is just about as high praise as I can bestow on a 2D game. I thought the first boss fight against the mosquito was cute as all get out, but I did not enjoy the flight on his back afterward.

Anyone have an idea how long it takes to play through the game? I'd like to budget my time with it to be finished by month's end...
