I have a 32" Phillips 720p TV and use PS2 with component and SNES with S-Video and both of them look fantastic. I feel 32" is just the right size as the screen isn't so large that it distorts the image. A friend of mine has a 52" Sony Bravia and when he plays SNES on it it looks like ass.

I recently got a 50-something-inch rear projection TV for free, and I wanna get rid of it. Everything looks like a 90's bootleg movie. It's horrible.

And again, despite it's flaws, I guess I've been blessed with an awesome HDTV for retro gaming. I've said it in many other threads (some people are probably thinking, "Ziggy, shut the fuck up!"). I've played a NES via composite and it looked absolutely amazing. I play my SNES via S-Video a lot on it, and it looks great. I used that S-Video cable to check out the N64, and Mario 64 looked incredible. The colors were so bright and vivid. And I've been playing my PS2 a lot lately on it, using component cables.

It's a Dell (yes, Dell) 32" LCD 720p TV. It has some problems, like some times it'll shut off and turn back on with no sound, and I have to turn it off and back on again to fix it. The control buttons on the TV itself don't work right, so I can pretty much only use the remote. But although it's only 720p (kinda wish I had 1080 for movies) retro gaming looks great on it. And the sound is amazing too, best sound quality I've ever heard from any TV's speakers.
Hey 720p is fine. I love playing the PS2 on my 4:3 HD CRT with component cables. I'm very happy watching my DVDs at 480p, at 720 or 1080 I end up with a widescreen squeezed image on my 4:3 screen with the stupid black bard on top and bottom. Give me an Anamorphic movie any day! Even the two PS2 games that support 1080i; Gran Turismo and Tourist Trophy end up going to widescreen squeeze mode.

With HDAdvance and almost 200 PS2 games, more then enough to keep me busy. Sad thing is I'm still buying PS2 games, especially since complete editions are getting harder to find. I can proudly say that every one of my PS2 games are complete with the original Case (Most have a Memory card holder, newer releases don't), Cover and manual.

I just wish the PS2 got the Otogi games, possibly the only Xbox exclusives (that aren't compatible on the 360) that'd maybe get me to bust out that enormous brick system again to play those. Least the PS2 got Onimusha, Shinobi, and plenty of other great hack n' slash games.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. My TV has a dedicated 4:3 mode, as all widescreen TV's should. I know some don't, like the one my brother has. Stretching a 4:3 game (PS2, SNES or whatever) makes it look HORRIBLE.

Dude, get some effin PS2 games! That's pretty much all we've talked about in this thread: How diverse and enormous the PS2 library is, and how the games are super cheap right now.

Ryvius wrote: My only problem now is getting a good setup to play PS2 games again. Even after getting the component cables for the system, the games just really look terrible on my HDTV. I just really, really wish all PS3's had backward compatibility... since when I play PS1 games through my PS3, HDMI and all, they look practically flawless.
Mod your system with Free McBoot and use GS Mode Selector to boot games into 480p whenever possible. It will look a million times better.

Except for FPS games. Did just fine without very many of them though.
