Will I be able to access PSN if I use this? I want emulators and better media support on my PS3, but I still like to support the indie developers. Heck I like supporting big time developers if I like the game enough to finish it.

I might pirate games to try them out, cause I've been burned too many times by games every reviewer adored and I hated and there was no demo available on PSN (GTA4, Fallout 3, Mercenaries 2, Red Faction ect. ect.)

For those asking whether quality emulators will be available, where have you been? There's already ports of mednafen, SNES9X, FBA, VICE (C64), VBA, Genesisplus. Pretty much all working at 100% with the vast majority of roms. The PS3 is a bit of a beast when it comes to emulators. There's even WIP Dreamcast and Saturn emulators.

So yeah, the PS3 is going to become the next oXbox as far as under TV emulator stations go. It already replaced my oXbox when it was running Linux. Now the functionality I had has been returned.

The DC for instance was released before the PS2 and couldn't beat the hype. You can't pirate Dreamcast games if you haven't bought a dreamcast because you're waiting for the PS2.
Ask anyone who worked in a games shop during that time what happened to the DC software sales the same week the Dreamcast was hacked...

According to this article, it seems that piracy did play a large part in killing off Dreamcast.

DC HOMEBREW TAKES OFF

In June 2000 Dan Potter decided to experiment with compiling code without the need for the official Sega development kit, and just one month later he released his work as LibDream, a freeware independent Dreamcast library, which would become the defacto software that many coders used to port over the first emulators, games and applications.

In the same month the WinCE Dev kit was “leaked” and a group of coders operating from Boob.co.uk used it to release an application called BoobPlay (an mpeg and AVI player).

August 2000 was a busy month with not only another movie player released in the form of GypPlay, but this was the month in which the first emulators were successfully ported over to the console. Gleem was a NES emulator written by Chuck Mason using LibDream, and shortly following that the SNES emulator Sintendo was released written with the WinCE development kit. Many other emulators and applications appeared, made with both the LibDream and WinCE development kits, and in December 2000 LibDream evolved into KallistiOS, which is still in use today. Sales of Dreamcast hardware took off virtually overnight as more and more applications, emulators and pirate games appeared. Sega were selling consoles by the bucket load, however they were also selling them at a heavy profit loss, and the lack of game sales meant that they were building up a large debt very fast. Sega rapidly changed the code in the Dreamcast in an attempt to stop unauthorised code from being booted, and as of October 2000, NTSC machines had additional code installed in the bios which would not allow booting of the MIL-cd format from CDRom.

This stopped unofficial games and programs running on the newer consoles once and for all, however it was too late by then. The damage through piracy had been done, and the console was condemned to the grave in early 2001 when Sega officially ceased production. The compromising of the MIL-cd format was amongst the reasons for the demise of the machine as it helped create the pirate scene in the first instance, however in a strange twist of fate if it was not for MIL-cd support being included in the consoles hardware, the homebrew scene may never had happened.

Any word on if there will be a port of the software ps2 emulator? That is the main thing that stopped me from buying a ps3. Since my htpc was replaced by my Wii recently - GPU fan worked strong for six years but just couldnt take it anymore, I could do a ps3 upgrade.

I might pirate games to try them out, cause I've been burned too many times by games every reviewer adored and I hated and there was no demo available on PSN (GTA4, Fallout 3, Mercenaries 2, Red Faction ect. ect.)

This too I would like to inquire about. Anyone know?
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

So clue me in, what does "haz" mean? There must be a generation gap because I don't get the LOLcat images nor do I find them amusing.

Yes, because it works on 3.55. There is no exploit you just run a signed app from a memory stick or from your hdd should you install it.

In related news the same 'hack' works on PSP. So you can sign and run any code on any PSP now. Awesome sauce.

So is there some sort of Jigstick yet?

I need to boot my 60gb and get it out of protect mode. The PSU burnt out and I replaced it, but now all I get is the YLOD when I boot.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS
