1) It's really hard to tell anything from that video due to the low quality of the recording. It also looks like the aspect ratio of the circle behind the characters changes, so it may be an issue of the output of the consoles rather than Sonic becoming less "chubby". On this video, the character proportions look a lot closer. I know the character models were changed, but I think they mostly just upped the polygon count and added extra details and shine maps.

2) Even if we assume he's chubby on the DC and skinny on the DX edition, does it somehow make the game worse?

holly shit the guy who made it is Greek ( http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=19981 look at flag next to his name). He just joined a Greek forum I'm on. Everyone is telling him how awesome the game is. I'll try asking him about more info.

Could you ask him if a Linux version of SFR is in the works? Thought I'd ask since there's a Macintosh version.
