I see that Defcon 5 came in a long box. Have you ever played it? It is one of my least favorite games of all time.

I played it for a short while - enough to feel that it could move down my backlog pretty far.

There are certainly worse longbox games, though,

necrobump, kids.

This is actually one of my absolute favorite collection threads on the forum. I remember not long after I joined RB, dsheinem's BST trade always mentioned that he was looking for longboxes, and it always struck me as such a cool thing to collect.

@dsheinem, have you ever thought about actually doing (short) reviews of the entire 101? I feel like it would make for a pretty amazing blog series considering how diverse those titles are. There's some serious gems in there, some serious crap, and probably a lot of stuff most of us have never played or even heard of.

That is just awesome. What were the last titles (or rarest if they are one in the same) that you finally acquired?

heh, didn't expect this to get a new year's nudge.

Short reviews for the entire 101 would be pretty crazy. I do plan to do a review of the launch titles for my RFGen blog at some point, but 101...well that would require a commitment I'm not sure I want to make. Maybe if I was working with a few other folks....

I posted some of the rarest in the pictures in the OP. The last was Silverload, but I am having difficulty remembering what some of the very last ones were beyond that. Both golf games were a late addition (stupid Tecmo game is pricey/rare), and Starblade Alpha was a late pickup too. PayPal tells me I picked up Jumping Flash and SF: The Movie late in the game, too.

I've strongly considered picking up the launch lineup (what were there? 17 I think?) as I've always liked having launch libraries of systems I love. I'm pretty sure I have a few of them already anyway. Hmmm.

Wow, that's not bad at all!

Battle Arena Toshinden - have it.

ESPN Extreme Games - woulnd't mind it for nostalgic reasons (was on the Purple Picks Demo that came with my launch PS1).

Kileak - The DNA Imperative - meh.

NBA Jam Tournament Edition - have it.

Power Serve 3D Tennis - wouldn't mind it for nostalgia. I remember being AMAZED by the graphics on this one in the store.

Rayman - have it.

Ridge Racer - have it.

Street Fighter: The Movie - always wanted it for kitche factor.

The Raiden Project - want it.

Total Eclipse Turbo - how is ths?

EDIT: though now that I think of it, my Toshinden and Rayman are not the longbox versions...
