Re: New Contra Announced for PSN and XBLA

My problems with the game:
1. The game is a supposedly influenced by hard corps but the gameplay looks more like Contra Rebirth or Contra 4.
2.The creators seem to have ignored that the protagonist is a goddamn villain. This guy tried to destroy the entire fucking planet! This is the sort of power hungry general who sees everything except himself as expendable. He unleashed the horrors of the alien cell upon his own soldiers!
3. A run-n-gun in which you are a villain could have the potential for some very awesome role reversal moments. Instead of choosing a branching path to save people or go after the bad guy but instead have the option of destroying a city or getting revenge on a dissenting member of your organization. They seems to have gone in the exact opposite direction and painted Colonel Bahamut as a disillusioned freedom fighter for villagers...
4. Disregarding all the potential awesomeness that could have been made if it was a Contra game where you were a villain and are trying to start a successful coup, the game looks really really slow. It looks slower than Operation C. Thats right a goddamn gameboy game from 1991 looks faster than a game coming out 20 years later.
Further more I don't like the art style or the general anime-ishness or whatever have you. Regardless though this looks like a bastard follow up to an awesome game.
