I can tell you with 100% certainty that this works awesome. You DO NOT need a step down converter for this if you live in US/Canada or even Japan. It will run fine. Just make sure you get a power supply for the unit with the specs I mentioned above.

I've been running a Japanese Saturn and a Japanese Duo-r which are both rated 100V here and there have been no problems whatsoever.

I'm running that setup on a 40 Samsung 1080P Lcd.
This looks like the way to go with a Saturn SCART Cable. All the video channels stay separated and no soldering.

It looks good, but I'm concerned by the fact that it only lists European formats, and NTSC U or NTSC J are not listed. I'm worried it might cause color issues or weird image stretching and/or resolution display.

Good point. Reading over NTSC 4.43 seems to be PAL oriented, a multi-region TV

That's correct. Every signal listed to be supported by the device is UK/EU. I asked the seller.

Edit: According to the link you posted, NTSC 4.43 is NTSC J? But Wikipedia seems to suggest it's a European signal. Then again, it's wikipedia. I'm so confused.

Same here. Can you shed some more light Souther? What is the model number of your Samsung?

Well its your call. I've had this for like 4-5 months now and I haven't had any problems. If you wanna go the s-video route thats ok too but its not gonna look as good I can guarantee you of that.

This is the best your going to get...Besides probably using the Xrgb 2 or 3 I believe. Those cost what 200-300 dollars.

here is a video, this guy is using the same thing i am using except i believe his is an earlier model than mine. His RGB Scart Switcher is also a different model but its basically the same thing.

This is about all i can do to show you it works.

Thanks. Woa, you both have Samsungs. I think Souther's RGB box is better then the XRGB due to price and simple direct RGB with the Saturn Scart cable. As far as I can tell Souther, is the LN40A530P1F a NTSC TV?

Souther found your manual in PDF, click away if you want a copy.

Hi.

Yes. I mentioned in a previous post that i live in Canada which is a Ntsc country. Just like US and Japan.

Thanks for the PDF. I still have the manual for my tv in its box though.

The person i bought my converter also sells a Scart RGB to HDMI as well. I heard that works good too.

At the moment I am actually playing my saturn and other systems on a CRT Tv just for fun via component. Looks pretty good too mainly because of the scanlines so its not so sharp like you see on lcds

The 1 think i will say about the saturn and this box is that it looks really good. You might not really notice it when you boot the system up but once you put a game in like Batsugun....Well...you'll be very happy

I took a look at the video. You may not have noticed this, but your signal actually appears to be stretched vertically (with the Donald Duck comparison). This is what I thought would happen, considering that Europe uses a different resolution and NTSC 4.43 is a European signal. Games like Siren 2 have black bars on the top and bottom (in Europe) because of the difference in resolution, where in Japan it's full screen. So it looks like your video signal is being stretched to compensate for the 100 extra "lines" that are missing from the NTSC signal that's going into the box.

Looking further into the matter, I also looked at different sites that brought up NTSC 4.43 and all of them were in the context of Europe and none of them mentioned Japan, aside from the link that was posted.

Edit: At the same time, his video could be stretched weird too. This is just my initial suspicions of the box that may or may not be verified from the video. I'm having some internet problems, so it'll take me a while but i'll look at your S-Video to RGB comparison to tell if there's a real difference in resolution, or if it was just my imagination/other factors.
