Wont work with the adapter.

Opened up both my pcs and i cant mount it as is in the new one, also only had one ide slot on the old one and it was for the dvd drive which i need to burn the drives since the old sata drive is too small to load with isos.

Ordered a ide to sata converter for the board and ill try that.

Crossover cable worked but kept getting an unknown error when i tried to process a job. Not sure what caused that but im about to pull my hair out with this thing.

Nothing i seem to do works. :x
Try installing one original game the normal direct method. This way you can confirm the drive is working properly.

HDAdvance/HDLoader will defrag on every Direct Install or Direct Rename.

For the Ethernet Crossover method: Did you follow the settings I posted in my Guide? Be sure you see a bar appearing that shows space used in the PS2 hard drive.
The drive does spin up, its just not recognized my winhiip or my pc.

I followed your guide on the crossover cable, but when i started the job it crashes and says " unknown error"

I haven't tried fidling with the pc ip address yet though so i guess thats not out of the question yet.

If you're able to, I suggest plugging the drive directly into the computer IDE cable. If that works, then you know that the USB<->IDE cable is not compatible with that drive for some reason.

If you have a router, you can plug the PS2 directly into the router using a normal cable. A cross-over cable is used only if you don't have a router or want to avoid using one for some reason.

You keep bringing up WinHiip that it's not recognizing your drive. I'll say it for the last time, if the PC doesn't recognize your drive (Using Disk Administrator), there's not a chance in hell that WinHiip will see it. Don't even bother trying until you verify that Disk Administrator sees it.

Yes i do realize that. No need to be belligerent.

As I said I dont have an ide port in my current pc, I do in the old one, but short of checking the drive itself I cant use that system for installing games due to it only having one ide port and one small ide port.

Assuming the old PC has an IDE HD and IDE CD/DVD, make an ISO of the game(s), shut down and hook the HD for the PS2 instead of the CD/DVD then dump maybe.

Update, got a new usb to ide adapter and it works. I also have an adapter for putting it on the mother board if i need to as well.

Glad the adapter works though so i dont have to go opening the case again.

The brand that i got was viewcon.

I considered that but the sata drive is too small to put many games on, it only has 8 gigs free and even at capacity im not looking at more than 30.

I ordered an adapter to mount the ide drive to my new pc, and also a second usb adapter that is a bit better than the cheapo i bought.

Hopefully one of those two things will work.

Actually the old pc has a sata hd for some reason. The dvd drive is a normal size ide, and the floppy reader is the small ide.
