If we're mentioning TV shows, then South Park is worth noting because they have funny episodes about World of Warcraft, Guitar Hero, and a fictional console called the Okama Game Sphere.

Also, I think someone here mentioned the movie Joysticks from another thread on this site:

in shaun of the dead ed has a ps2 controller in his hand a few times through out the movie(don't remember if it shows a game or not)

He plays Timesplitters 2 at the start.

I remember I was watching some tv show the other day two dudes were playing PS2 and they were waving the controllers around like mad.

There is a commercial for an airlines that features the Wii, but the controller used is the N64.
It's the one where the dude throws the controller at/into the tv.

Unless that has happened in more than one film, you're thinking of "The Wizard," I believe.

In the Hitman movie, there is a scene where 47 is walking through a hotel and passes by a room with kids playing one of the hitman games

You know what? Screw all of this, we haven't mentioned the greatest scene in movie history involving video games:

Oh, no! How could we forget!

I'm wondering what sort of deal, if any, they had to work out with Capcom to release City Hunter in the US. I'm guessing the appearances of the characters and the game were unlicensed and/or based upon a pirate release in Hong Kong.

I must hang my head in shame for not remembering to mention this.

The fantastic Japanese Zombie film Bio Zombie had the main characters playing House of the Dead, which helps them figure out that shooting zombies in the head will kill them.

And in the not so fantastic movie House of the Dead, screenshots of House of the Dead are edited into the fight scenes (including one shot where player 2 has died and there is an "insert coin" message on screen.
