Gotta love the simple mechanic of just turn it on and play. A simple console is a dependable console. I have tons of GC games and they look just awesome in 480P. Its almost worth the price just for that.Limewater wrote:Excepting, of course, that downloading videos off the internet instead of buying them on BluRay is immoral...Inazuma wrote: I've borrowed BD's and played them on the same TV that I stream downloaded HD videos to and it's not that big of a difference in quality. I mean, hey, how about that weather right now! I'm in Atlanta and there's snow on the ground! And my Alma Mater is currently winning the BCS National Championship game!
Also, the first Mega Man is a great game.
Also, I'm glad Capcom isn't abandoning the Wii. I won't be getting into the current generation of consoles for probably five more years. By then, the only machines still worth buying use will be Wiis because they will still work and won't be as dependent on mandatory DLC from long-dead servers.
Capcom Abandoning Wii?

I hate DLC more than you, which explains why I only have 3 PS3 games, compared to about 15 Wii games. (I bought the PS3 primarily to play PS1 & PS2 games on it.) Yeah, Wii games are disappointing to me when I think about how much better they could be on the PS3, but at least they come complete on a disc for $70 or less, and they will still work fine 20 years from now.Limewater wrote:Excepting, of course, that downloading videos off the internet instead of buying them on BluRay is immoral...Inazuma wrote: I've borrowed BD's and played them on the same TV that I stream downloaded HD videos to and it's not that big of a difference in quality. I like seeing things improve which explains why I prefer better graphics, higher resolution, online features, better controls, etc. But not everything new is good, such as DLC and download only games. As much as I've bashed on the Wii for not keeping up with technology, it is nice that most games on it don't have DLC.
PS3 games are better today but that's only because they haven't been deleted from the server yet. If we ever reach the point where temporary download games tied to a single console are all that's available, I will drag out my old Wii from storage and play with that instead.

That's a bold statement.Inazuma wrote: I hate DLC more than you

Re: Capcom Abandoning Wii?
The Wii is still strong imo, and for people like me there is tons of great software coming out.
I just picked up Castlevania Rebirth and for any fan of the NES/GB "old school" games it is a welcomed addition to the library. It has all the charm of the originals with improved graphics, control, and game play.
Mega Man 10 is coming out later this year...but that'll also be on PS3/360. No doubt that out of the three consoles the controls will be best on the Wii if you have a classic controller (and any self respecting Wii gamebuster should).
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories simply must be played and is a great example of the Wii mote put to good use. Sure you can play it on PS2....but you won't enjoy it as much...
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is coming to the states this month. I don't think I need to explain why this game is going to be a huge hit. I really doubt we'll see a port to any other console anytime soon..
Yes there is plenty of shovelware for this console...but the same holds true for every successful console in history going back to the Atari 2600. There are plenty of gems out there to be found...and anyone that refuses to play the Wii because "the graphics sucks", "all the games have waggle controls", or "most of the software is crap" are just plain missing out.

I think you do need to explain why the game is going to be a huge hit. As much as I am looking forward to it, I don't see it doing anything more than collecting dust on store shelves.DownSince86 wrote: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is coming to the states this month. This is a game that appeals mainly to Wii-owning, 2D fighter playing, retro anime fans. How many people are going to fit that description?
Re: Capcom Abandoning Wii?
I agree. I'm actually pretty baffled as to why they picked this title for localization. Perhaps they can do so cheaply or something. Most people don't even know that Tatsunoko is. I will be very surprised if this game does well.the7k wrote: I think you do need to explain why the game is going to be a huge hit. Unless you can play as the kids from Superbook. Then it'll be an A+ Blockbuster.

Re: Capcom Abandoning Wii?
I certainly hope that Capcom director gets fired. For a 3rd party company, especially one as big as Capcom, saying something like that is suicide. They can't abandon the Wii or any console, for that matter. Any company that burns bridges like that will lose a huge amount of profit, which is a huge disadvantage any way you look at it.
Re: Capcom Abandoning Wii?
All he said was that the Wii is a market that's hard to get foothold in, and the games they make don't suit the console. It's not like he went outright and insulted Nintendo. After all the less than spectacular sales, how much profit were they making off that console anyway?lisalover1 wrote:I certainly hope that Capcom director gets fired.
