Worryingly mine has taken to just locking up for no reason. Luckily it's only been whilst watching TV on iPlayer and the HDD wasn't being used at the time.

It does worry me though. I've had my 360 since launch and had not a single problem with it. Now the supposedly more reliable PS3 is giving me problems. Great... Fuck you Sony, seriously. Is it that hard to make something work for a change. I'm sick of Sony shit crapping out on me.

Where do you have it, what position is it in and are you blocking the exhaust?

As for your 360, you're a lucky guy. All of the Sony stuff we've ever had in my house has always worked well and dependably for years. From CD players made in '84 and VCR's as old as '87 to Stereos from '92 and Computer monitors from '04 nothing me or my family have ever bought from Sony has ever broken under normal use.

it has at least a foot all the way around it. I have a completely open TV stand made out of glass. The PS3 is all the way on the right of the top shelf. The only other thing on that shelf is my DVD player but there's at least a foot between it and the PS3. It's not ventilation that's a problem. Trust me. If my 360 is fine being in the same position but on the bottom shelf them I'm sure the PS3 is.

When it does this I go to feel it and it's completely cold... It was the first thing I checked.

Remember the PS3's exhaust is on the right/top side next to the Blu-Ray drive. I thought mine was vented enough as well, but guessing from how it finally YLOD'd on me a while back I've planned to give it a much wider berth next time around when I finally get around to fixing it.

I've attached a pic of where the PS3 is. Plenty of ventilation. I'm really not sure what else I could do to make it any more ventilated. Short of putting it outside lol.

That's literally exactly how I had mine, luck of the draw for us I guess.
