I played the built-in games and Street Fighter 2, I think its really awesome. The sound isn't the best, but that doesn't bother me, I got this one rather than the Retrogen because of the built-in official games. One bad thing about the Genmobile is that the d-pad and buttons are awkward for fighters with which is a disappointment, but its really great for Sonic, Shinobi 3, and others. I bought it from Amazon.com for $59 w/ free shipping.

Can you confirm that it works with Phantasy Star 4 and Bloodlines?

I'm sorry, but I don't have those games. But on the Amazon page says that it plays all Genesis games. I tested my games which are listed below, most if not all games should work, I haven't found a game that doesn't work yet. Streets of Rage and Sonic 3 has a little bit of slowdown at certain parts, the others I didn't have any problems with. I have other games that I didn't test because they were included already, I hope this helps you guys.

confirmed working:
The Punisher
Vectorman 2
Rocketknight Adventures
Primal Rage
Last Battle
Hellfire
WWF Raw
WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game
Road Rash 2
Battletoads
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
Talespin
Ranger X
Virtual Bart
Lethal Enforcers (hard to play without the lightgun, but still fun)
NBA Jam
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Genesis 6 Pak
Spiderman: Separation Anxiety
Cool Spot
Mercs
Operation Europe
Streets of Rage 2
Street Fighter 2:CE
Sonic 2
Sonic 3
Beavis and Butthead
Toe Jam and Earl
Toe jam and Earl: Panic on Funkotron
Aladdin
Tiny Toon Adventures : Buster's Hidden Treasure ( btw great game)
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

I know for a fact that Virtua Racer won't work at all.

Sorry about the bump, guys.

Now that some of you has had it for a while, what's the verdict? Is the Retrogen worth the money for someone who doesn't care all that much if the sound isn't perfect. I just want to be able to play some of my Megadrive games "on the go". Will it suffice?

I can say I got Castlevania Bloodlines to work on the GenMobile. Phantasy Star IV kinda works, but all the text looks wonky.

Was not able to get Jurassic Park Rampage Edition, Beyond Oasis, ESWAT, or ThunderFox to work.

I think if all you want to do is play Sega games on the go and don't mind if the sound is a little bit off, then the Retrogen or GenMobile are worth it. I love the crisp and vibrant colors and details of the LCD screen, and the fact that they are pocket-sized, slim and lightweight. I opted for the GenMobile because it has 20 built-in games (although I only like 10 of them) so I don't need to carry carts with me all the time. The battery life is great too.

Thank you!

Then I'll get the Retrogen or make my girlfriend buy it for me for my birthday! :P

Some websites claim the Retrogen plays master system games. Is this true? Anyone tested it? I have a GenMobile, but if the RetroGen plays master system games, I'll have to get that too...

I figured this would not be the case, but thought I'd ask anyway. The GenMobile's cart slot is curved and master system games cannot fit in it. Also thought this was bogus due to the fact that the Genesis cart slot differs from the master system slot, otherwise, we could play master system games on the genesis without the need of the power base converter...right? Unless some advancements have been made to the genesis cart slot?

Highly unlikely, I know, but wanted to ask just to make sure. Personally, I think the GenMobile is an ok system. The screen is too small and the system has a death grip on the carts (at least mine does). I got the screen mod and battery pack from Hailrazer on my Nomad and it is great. I use that for my portable genesis gaming now.

I have both of these Retrogen and GenMobile. I prefer the GenMobile since the built-in games aren't actually crap and the screen is brighter. For some reason the Retrogen's screen makes my games look more "greenish". I'm selling my Retrogen on ebay.

They pretty much have the same hardware so the compatibility and sound issues are exactly the same.
