tribe called quest and Jurassic 5 are 2 of my favorite hip-hop artists.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

I love a tribe called quest. Their music and beats sounded so....natural for the time. It sounds so different than anything else from that same period of time that it demands respect.
Re: What do you listen to?
I just found the HipHop artist Shing02 tonight. Holy shit, he's amazing.
Coincidentally he's the guy that did the opening for Samurai Champloo.

Re: What do you listen to?
In the last year, I've started listening to Marilyn Manson, and currently have some of his albums.
Three of them are part of his Triptych. The first (ironically released last) is Holy Wood, about a man who lives in the Valley of Shadows, which is oppressed by the superficial Holywood and rebels against them. But after topping Holywood, the victory is turned bittersweet when the press turns it into something as superficial as the very thing they took down. Next was Mechanical Animals, which is like the band's answer to Ziggy Stardust, as it sports a more glam sound, albeit more grim and nihilistic as the previous album Antichrist Superstar.
Also, I'm getting into late-'80s death metal, like Sanctuary (have both their studio albums), Grim Reaper (have their best-of album), W.A.S.P. (have their cover version of Paint it Black from their self-titled album), and Fastway (have the soundtrack to "Trick or Treat", which they've created the entirety of the album's tracks).
And I started listening to Abney Park, but so far only their steampunk albums, Lost Horizons and Aether Shanties (obviously analogous to the sea shanties of seabound pirates in non-steampunk timelines).
Also have the "Almost Alice" album, but mostly just listen to my fave tracks: Avril Lavigne's "Alice" and Plain White T's "Welcome to Mystery".
I may get into Skinny Puppy since I liked their song "Worlock".

Re: What do you listen to?
I couldn't help but notice no one has said anything about Gorillaz, so it looks like I have to.
I love Gorillaz, however I grew up on all kinds of metal.
Dethklok, Modest Mouse, Iron Maiden, Passion Pit, James Brown, and The Cult are a few more of my favorite artists.
I'm pretty open to just about anything.

Re: What do you listen to?
I'm a metal guy, first and foremost. My favorite band of the moment, without a doubt, is Epica, who I recently saw live. Sepultura probably ranks second (yes, even without Max and Igor).
Otherwise, I've been gravitating more toward symphonic/gothic metal most recently, in the vein of bands such as the aforementioned Epica (female vocals are a must), Stream of Passion, Delain and Evig Natt.
I also have a definite affinity for death metal, more particularly of the brutal, technical and somewhat grind-leaning variety. Cryptopsy (up until their last CD, the absolute pinnacle of brutal tech-death), Cephalic Carnage, Origin and Odious Mortem are nice examples.
Man, if only I could find some symphonic brutal technical death metal with operatic female vocals, I'd shit pinecones.

That is pretty scary are taste in music is very similar.J T wrote:You can kind of get a sense of what I listen to based on the proportionate space it takes up in my CD collection. Here's a labeled picture to help you out. My favorite artists take up a lot of space, otherwise I try to sort by genre.
This is only about half of my collection though, so don't think you've got me totally figured out (though I do like this half best). Just about every genre has something I like, but I obviously like some genres and artists better than others.

I listen to ABBA. No seriously. Even have the panpipes renditions.
