I will beat it, but for now it bores me. I long for creatures with names that are understandable to pronounce and dont all look like villians from bad scifi novels...
I couldn't agree with you more! Platinum I dropped in the middle to be finished later (I'll do that eventually) I have high hopes for Heart Gold/Soul Silver. That should be a big improvement! Hopefully Kanto is still the challenge given to those who beat the elite four, and not a second easy region to breeze through...
I don't care what people say about Pokemon, I still love it. It's one of the few series that has found exactly what it is and should be; it's a simple RPG formula that keeps being expanded without breaking the original rules. In essence, they struck a perfect balance of not fixing what wasn't broken and exciting innovation. Pokemon is awesome.

When you think about it, Pokemon and Dragon Quest are a lot alike. Each game is not too different from the previous one, and it maintains that same overall formula from game to game.

Yeah, I'm giving a chance to newer Pokémon, and they're not bad. Designs certainly are not as inspired, but I've got to say, they've managed to make much more balanced games recently, with interesting attacks and concepts.
I reckon, also, that people -- myself included -- complain more about very limited flaws in the games, rather than the things essential to the games themselves.

Oh yeah, I went there.
what in the hell.
And yeah, some designs are REALLY dumb. I'm expecting Pokemon to come out that resemble lawn chairs next. Then there will be a Pokemon god of the lawn chair Pokemon, named "MALTHISUIXA." The females will have a ribbon fastened on while the males have a tie. They can't learn HMs.

Agreed. Also, who can can deny the sheer awesomeness of Garchomp? It's way more awesome looking than Salemence and has even been banished to the Uber environment.
It makes sense that the next evolution of Pokemon would be to digital or electric sources, but general household products? Seriously, when pokemon become chairs or sinks or cardboard boxes... it's laughable.
I still would like to see what they come up with because they are creating essentially creatures I would've come up with myself at a young age just wandering around my yard- "Those sticks outside kinda look like a dinosaur," so then you have a grass-type dinosaur with a bunch of twigs...
