The RS by me closed 6 months ago and is now a Sprint store.

Mine was half sprint and half radioshack. I went by there yesterday hopeful that it might still be open so I could grab a small length of wire or something for what I was working on and they are closed now. Completely barren lights out and everything.....going to miss them since they were the only place to go locally if I needed small stuff for if i wanted to solder or anything and I don't think anything else exists...

Some electrical supply stores that electricians go to might have stuff.

Sounds like Toy's R Us might be filing for bankruptcy.
(I thought we talked about Circuit City here too but maybe I'm thinking of another thread)

At this point, we could probably have a dedicated thread for chains that go bankrupt.

It's weird to feel a little sad when the reality is, I buy 90% of everything off Amazon anyways... as do most. It is the future but I could maybe see retail making a comeback down the road.

I wouldn't miss TRU really which is sad. I've noticed for a long time they're always higher priced than anyone else who sells quite a lot of toys. They've done it for decades and eventually you end up hosing one generation enough the next remembers it. Compound that with online pricing, and it was really a matter of time.

Yeah, I haven't bought anything in TRU in a long time. I used to find bargains there, now, not so much.

Since I have a baby, I've been there a bit lately. They don't seem to have the best prices on anything, really, but they do have a great selection. I will sometimes buy stuff there simply because they have enough stuff that I can find something appropriate without a ton of guesswork.

I'm happy to have grown up in the 80s and experienced the ultimate toy boom.





In some ways, it's unfortunate my children will never appreciate the joy of wandering the aisles of stores like Toys R Us in awe at the amount of awesomeness on display.
