wow I'm surprised Rayearth had a shorter run than PDS since PDS costs over twice what Rayearth does, I guess also a really good game along with being super rare.Zeonik Freak wrote:It was an estimate of 20,000 for PDS. Magic Knight Rayearth had around 15,000 from what i hear (or what is on wiki).
So Bangai O and ROLW wouldnt surprise me of the numbers printed, i got lucky buying that from someone (and ive only seen 2 copies since then)...

Re: What's the rarest game you own?
I think the more interesting question is what are the rarest/most valuable games that you bought before they were rare or valuable?
I've always been proud to have snagged Panzer Dragoon Saga when it was first released, purely based on the stellar reviews EGM gave the game at the time. I got the last copy in the store. I also purchased Shining Force III in a similar fashion.
I also have two Earthbound boxes which came with the guide book, in pristine condition (thanks to my mother being a pack rat I have a ton of boxed NES and SNES games with manuals). I know I have a manual and the game and there should be a guide somewhere, but I have no idea where the second box came from. Not that I'm complaining.
I have a few complete sets of SNES RPGs that I bought when they were released, including FFIII (VI), Chrono Trigger, and Mario RPG. I was an RPG fan at just the right time. Alas, my RPG interests weren't strong during the PS and PS2 eras.

I have an ultra-rare nintendo cart. I can't tell you the name because the label is torn off, but I can tell you it comes with two games on the cart. The first game involves a man who can jump to incredible heights and grow twice his size after consuming fungus. The second game requires the use of an elongated orange controller to "zap" waterfowl. Unfortunately this controller leaves me unable to dispatch the canine in a similar fashion.

I guess Radiant Silvergun. Other than that(and its rarity is debatable), I don't think I have anything super mega rare but here are a few notables off the top of my head:
Dungeons & Dragons Collection for the Saturn
Guardian Heroes
Wild Guns complete with box, instructions and inserts for the S-NES
Klonoa
Final Fantasy 7 non-greatest hits
Shin MegaTen Nocturne and the two Digital Devil games
Zone of the Enders 2
Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the Dreamcast
Bangaio for Dreamcast
The two Lunar remakes for the PS 1 complete with all the omake
Ikaruga for the Gamecube
a copy of Rez for the PS2 back when it still was rare
an original copy of Castlevania:Symphony of the Night on the PS1(non-greatest hits)
Final Fantasy 6 complete for the S-NES
a complete copy of Sin & Punishment for the N64
I have come very close to owning Valkyrie Profile and Suikoden 2, but in both cases the seller was unable to provide them to me due to freak occurances and I ended up getting refunded. Like I just was not meant to own those damn games.

Yup, there were alot of us who had a feeling those later saturn titles (and the working designs RPGs) would eventually be worth something. Unfortunately I was in college at the time, so any spare money I had went to imports.crux wrote:I think the more interesting question is what are the rarest/most valuable games that you bought before they were rare or valuable?

A flashcart containing LSDJ for the original Game Boy.
