So I just got an Italian sandwich

I like mayo. Not a lot. But it's pretty necessary in a lot of ways.

Special Sauce? that's mayo, ketchup, and banana pepper juice in a lot of places. You know what else that makes? Shrimp sauce / Thousand Island Dressing...

Chipolte mayo is also often only mayo and ketchup.

I'll agree with not putting mayo on spicy italian meats. Oil those puppies up!

Love me some sandwiches, all kinds. Nothing beats the day after thanksgiving and putting together a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos and green bean casserole sandwich in a dinner roll cut in half.

That being said, nothing ruins a good sandwich like some mayo. Can't stand the stuff. I know someone mentioned Miracle Whip, just as bad as mayo IMO.

I dislike mayonnaise as well, but a thin (meaning you can still see the texture of the bread), thin layer of miracle whip on salami or turkey is okay. Preferably I'd use tomatoes, lettuce, onion, and Plochman's (I HATE French's) mustard.

And as stated before, coleslaw on a pulled pork BBQ sandwich is a must. Funny thing...I hate ham, but love pork, sausage etc. The smell, texture, and tastse make me wanna spew.

Yeah I hate wet cured ham. You know that nasty sweet ham cold cut in the brine solution... UGH! Keep that crap away from me. Dry cured it ok at times... but still not a fan of the cured hams in general.

yeah, I also don't think that ham should be sweet...but that's just me.

It definitely should NOT be wet. gross. moist and juicy, maybe, but not briny

Alright, I know old thread is old, but I just went to Burger King and saw an interesting message: "Ask for 'no mayo' on your Whopper and reduce your fat intake by 40%!"

The mayo on a Whopper is 40% of the fat? Holy carp. I mean, the Whopper is already a heart-stopper as it is, and for mayo to contribute that much? Wow.

Any of you guys ever made your own mayo? It basically just IS fat. It's fat and some other liquid along with some kind of emulsifying agent, whipped into an emulsion.
