The new art seems anime-influenced but it's not appealing like Avatar/Korra. Superboy's characterization is pretty good, though. Superhero TV writers have gotten a little more serious lately.
The Superboy storyline just recently got a little more interesting. Two things happened in the past few weeks that could seriously impact his life. His story is one of the best parts of the show right now. Both him and Robin's story arcs have interesting ties to Superman and Batman. There are some definite daddy issues in this show. I really like that. As far as I know, the guy who wrote Disney's Gargoyles is still part of the writing team and Gargoyles was really the most serious Disney cartoon I can remember. It never felt like something that would only appeal to kids. What you said about superhero TV writers being more serious is why I like YJ. I've been get tired of the more lighthearted approach that was getting so common with Teen Titans, Batman: Brave and the Bold, and The Super Hero Squad Show. Seeing shows like Young Justice and Green Lantern are a nice throwback to the more serious approach we got from shows like Justice League Unlimited and Batman Beyond.
If you want to talk about anime influenced, just go back and look at Teen Titans. Compared to that, Young Justice feels much, much closer to Justice League Unlimited's style in my opinion. Teen Titans was 110% anime influenced. I like that Young Justice is more restrained in that regard.
